Who do you think Cam Newton and Tom Brady are?

Yes it is true we only played against two backup QBs.

New Orleans QB, ( fill in name ) , throws for 328 yards, 3 t.d's, against Jaguars Sunday. Gus Bradley claims he " saw some good things" despite the 42-13 loss to the Saints.
Quote:I think we may be giving flynn too much credit...

Then again, he is playing our defense.

It's the latter part of your response that puts his expected qb rating up there.

We've been blown out exactly once this year. By the super bowl bound patriots. And we got it back against the clots. Just sayin

You look at our 2015 record and tell me, how many games against backup QBs, how many games against rookie QBs, how many games against starting QBs who should be replaced, and how many games against elite QBs whose teams were in the dumper.

I count 3 games against backup QBs (Hasselbeck twice and E. J Manuel once).

I count 3 games against rookie QBs (Jameis Winston once and Marcus Mariota twice)

We lost to Bryan Hoyer.   He's a journeyman at best.

We lost to Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He's a journeyman at best.

Matt Ryan is a good QB, but his team had lost the previous 6 games.   We lost.

Philip Rivers is a great QB, but his team was 2-8 when we played them and lost.

We did beat Joe Flacco but his team was 2-6 at the time.

Anyone who looks at the schedule we had this year with an objective mind can only say 2015 set up for the Jaguars as one of the easiest schedules we've ever had in our history.

What a missed opportunity.  That's all you can say.  We should have blown away that schedule.
Quote:Why is it mind-boggling? Our defense sucks. It is not like we are only playing against bad quarterbacks. In fact only two of them were backups.

Hasselbeck was a backup and we played two games against him.

Fitzpatrick was a backup who got the job when Geno Smith had his jaw broken.

Manuel was a backup when we played the Bills.

Hoyer started the season, but lost his job for several weeks. While not technically a backup, he's not much of a starter.

... and we'll face Yates in two weeks.

If Brees is IR'ed as he should be, then we get still another backup.

That's five, six if Brees sits, seven if you count Hoyer. And we also played three games against rookie QBs.

The Jags are 5-9 and our defense is 30th against that rabble.

I'm with ya. No point in fixating on it now. This team is young and I'm confident will only get better.
You guys act like Jacksonville is the only team that played against "backups and rookies". The Ryan Fitzpatrick-led Jets are 9-5 this season. Please understand you sound stupid implying that is a bad loss simply because Fitzpatrick is a "back up". The Jaguars aren't the only team who has been playing against and/or losing to "backups and rookies".

Quote:I wouldn't be surprised in the least if rookie QB Garrett Grayson was named the Saints starting QB if Drew Brees is kept out of the game.   This would be a good opportunity for Grayson to gain experience.
I would absolutely love if Grayson got the start. We went to the same baby sitter together, when we were kids. He's a couple years younger, but his sister is my same age.

I was pleased to see him get drafted and sitting behind Brees can only help his growth.

The Jets have not beat a team with a winning record and only one team (Redskins) with a .500 record. They have a top-ten defense. Fitzpatrick is not a QB you'd want as your starter, he signed a backup contract as a free agent this offseason. He is just one of many scrub QBs we've faced, and hardly reduces the shame of posting the 30th-best defense against the weakest group of QBs the Jags will ever face.

is his sister hot?
Quote:Matt Flynn has had some success in this league including at least one record game with the Packers. Overall he's now in his eight season having played in 51 games with 7 starts, and he has a career quarterback rating of 85.9.
With 2 benchings, and 3 releases along the way.

She's not bad. Pretty sure she's married with a couple kids though.
Quote: Brees in 'horrible pain', 'intent on playing'

Drew Brees | NO

(December 23, 2015 8:35 PM EST)

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Drew Brees (foot) is in "horrible, miserable pain," but is "intent on playing" in Week 16 against Jacksonville.

Brees is dealing with a torn plantar fascia sustained during Monday night's loss to the Lions. His Week 16 status is in major doubt. Per RapSheet, Brees is "rehabbing 24/7" and is "intent" on playing this week, but "we'll see." With their season down the drain, the Saints have nothing to gain by trotting out Brees. He's questionable at best to see the field against the Jags.

If there was ever a time to bring Saxonville back...this is it. The QB must go down and he must go down HARD!!

This is exactly why nobody should be complaining we let average quarterbacks look like Pro Bowlers. When was the last time we did that? Also, our defense played a major role in defeating the Colts two weeks ago.

One more thing: Most people here underrate how good some opposing quarterbacks are. They have played well against much better defenses.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was never a backup this season. What are you talking about? We beat all three backup quarterbacks who played against us: E.J. Manuel, Matt Hasselbeck, and Charlie Whitehurst.

Agreed, but I have zero faith in this Defense right now. The Offense is going to have too score, at least 30 for us to have a chance. Even then, the Defense will probably let them score 33.

For what it's worth,  on Sirius Radio earlier today,  host Rich Gannon agreed that if it looks like Drew Brees won't be healthy enough to play,  it's in the Saints best interest to start Garrett Grayson.

Being that you have known about Garrett Grayson before all of us or at the very least the vast majority of us,  was there are specific point in time you first believed he would be become an NFL QB?
Quote:Don't speak for me. Russell Wilson is a game manager at best.

Keep telling yourself that.

He shattered records in high school, at Heritage HS in Football and was very successful in Track also. I seen a couple of his games live, while he was still in high school. Definitely one of the best athletes on the field then and he played multiple positions.

I always had hopes that he would at least get a shot at the NFL, possibly as an UDFA. His Junior and Senior years at Colorado State convinced me that he should definitely be a draftable prospect. He had injury issues his sophomore season, if I remember correct and only had limited playing time as a freshman. I didn't think he would have been drafted in the 3rd round, but I was happy to see it.

You could clearly see flashes of greatness in HS, but that can be said about a lot of athletes who never became anything after HS. He still has plenty he needs to work on, but I'm sure he's getting some great schooling with Brees and Sean Payton around.

I'll always be pulling and rooting for him, no matter what.
