I disagree that Yeldon goes down on first contact, what he does display however is an aversion to contact, very much unlike say a M. Jones-Drew. What strikes me about Yeldon is his balance, and that's why I disagree with the statement that he goes down on first contact. If you skip to the 0:20 mark on this video, it shows him breaking multiple tackles and still falling forward and gaining yardage as he was going to the ground. Granted, that is "just one play", but as I watch him I maintain the sense that he is just a pain in the rear to get to the ground.

 

Now, the thing that I think he glaringly lacks is top end speed. But, if he did have that, he'd have been drafted in the top 15.

Some of those guys have to do more to be considered core players.

I think the great bulk of your opinions are homer based, but I respect them nonetheless

The offense is almost set... just need a couple more guys on the offensive line, and a couple more roleplayers, mainly a power running back and/or good lead blocker (hopefully both in the same player).


Defensively, there's a ways to go. Need depth across the board, and some more talent infused into the starting line up.

I still want a guy who scares the daylights out of DBs because he can get on top of you quick. A true threatening burner. We'd put up insane numbers if we had that guy. I'm talking 3 receivers with 1K, and possibly a TE with 1K

IMO, if Lee can stay healthy, he can be that vertical threat that can stretch the field. Regardless, I don't think WR is a priority, but more of a luxury if we were to add another WR. We have one of the best WR corps in the NFL, and one of the youngest as well. I say, just stay with these guys and let them develop.


Another one that comes to mind is another blocking TE, unless Lewis comes back on a much cheaper contract. Move TE is set with Thomas and Harbor.

I'd bring Lewis back for a 2 year vetty minimum with the expectation that he is only for blocking purposes. 

 

I may be in the minority, but i think we're"fine" on the OL, especially once Linder gets back. And I believe that Bowanko can take that center spot from Wiz. Slide Beadles out next year and plug in Cann at LG, and a line like:

RT - Parnell

I feel Joeckel just needs a hungry player behind him to push him into vast improvement. He has improved from last year, and maybe next year will be his breakout. Still feel we should bring in a veteran LT.


At center, I'd love to know if the front office/coaching staff believe Bowanko is the guy. But if they are trying him at Tackle, then maybe they feel otherwise. Center should also be addressed in free agency. I'd prefer a solid, experienced veteran. Bo struggled last year with line calls, from what I remember.

like I said, Yeldon kisses too many cutback lanes, and he goes down to easily because of how he "pitty-patters" his feet. Those short, choppy steps makes for easy shoestring tackles.

Yeldon is gonna get close to 1k rushing yards, maybe more and also has close to 300 receiving yards, as a rookie!. He is 3rd amoung rookies in rushing yards (even though he miss a game), he has done all this with a weak O-line and on a pass heavy team. You say he misses cutback lanes and goes down easily, but his vision and yards after contact/ running power are his strengths, so u are every wrong there... the knock on him coming out of college was his fumbles, which haven't been a problem for him as a pro. Another knock he had coming out of college was that he runs high (shoulder pad level), which he still does need to work on but is very fixable with time.... anyway long story short you don't know what ur talking about...

I actually think Nic Jacobs is in the process of passing Lewis as a blocker. Granted, I think ML is also starting to show some cracks in that department, so it's not all Jacobs.

I agree, I feel like Jacobs can take over, unless Lewis wants to come back at a minimum salary. Regardless, I'm sure Jacobs is ready to beat him in competition.

I would love to develop Neal Sterling into a move TE.
