Random thoughts.

Bortles reminds me of Favre

Mariotta reminds me of Jeff Garcia or Kap

Bridgewater reminds me of Alex Smith

Winston reminds me of Leftwich

Carr reminds me of Delhomme.
Bortles def. reminds me of Favre, I know everyone keeps saying Big Ben but to me its Favre..

Marriota actually reminds me of Colin Kaepernick or if he can prove to be more effective deep Steve Young (but keep in mind he played the Jaguars Pass Defense, I am a huge fan of the Jaguars but lets face it the DBs have been horrible for 3 years) When they do get INTs its usally a tip up or straight horrible pass (of course House is the exception he's a good corner not the best but starting quality for sure)!  The team needs to draft an elite (hopefully) corner in the 1st round this year!

Bridgewater yeah I could see Alex Smith but I would lean more towards Blaine Gabbert.

Winston is his wind up as bad as Byron Leftwich?  I think Jameis Winston is probably more like Eli Manning.

Derek Carr reminds me of Jay schroeder whom put up 4,109 yards passing in his 2nd year with 22 TDs but 22 INTs, just kidding... thats not fair to Carr I guess you could say Alex Smith.

You're not giving these other QBs any credit man, other than Winston maybe. Carr is not Alex Smith whatsoever.  Bridgewater is not close to being a Gabbert. Mariota is Kaepernick if Kaepernick could actually function as a pocket passer.

You know they show the 20+ to which Bortles is ranked 2nd with 57 (Palmer has two more than him) and the 40+ which Blake is ranked 11th with 9 but they dont consider that Blake is also the 2nd most sacked with 39 (Alex Smith has one more than him, and he's not nearly as mobile / elusive as Blake like not even close)... into consideration of the Rating to which Blake is now 88.4 (way better than his 60 something of his rookie season)...

I mean if you put Blake behind the Dallas Cowboys Oline or even an average line like the Jets and his stats might be even better than Brady's this year...

The Oline has to improve and stay healthy next year...

Quote:I dont frequent these boards as much as I would like to Baconator but I am curious...do you have some sort of issue with Bortles? Sorry if I missed something you had said earlier
His main issue is that he is a titans fan.
Mariotta on that RG3 track, first real injury gonna do him in.
Lol @ the downplaying of Carr in here. Check the stats....Blake has a few more passing yards and a couple more tds...Carr is better everywhere else

1. Carr

2. Mariota

3. Blake

yeah because he takes as many hits as RG3 and has shown an injury history like him

I disagree with you here. RG3 defaulted to his run game when his first read was covered. Not so with Mariotta. He stays in the pocket and looks for options. He has wheels but uses them judiciously.

thank you. Don't know why it's such a problem giving other QBs props. Grow up, fellas
It's definitely exciting to have so much young talent in the league. I think if you go by what they've done since the beginning of their careers it's Carr, Blake, then MM/JW. But if you look at potential it's hard not to say that Blake takes it, and I'd say MM probably has the second most potential.
Quote:How is Bortles' rookie year even comparable to what Winston and Mariota are doing in their rookie years? Or Carr's for that matter? I think there is good reason to believe they are the best QB prospects since RG3 and Luck, and those were the best in a long time, but Mariota/Winston are doing things even they didn't do in record breaking fashion.

What records exactly are those two breaking? Bc last I recall the rookie passing leaders is Luck, which neither will break, rookie tds is Wilson/Peyton with 26, which neither will break, rookie wins is Ben, which neither will break, most rush yards is Cam, which, again, neither will break...

Not a big of a difference as you think actually. What separates Carr and Bortles per game (not counting week 1 for Carr)

Carr - 23/37, 271 yd, 2.33 TD, 0.75 INT

Bortles - 22/38, 271 yd, 2.38 TD, 1 INT
Oh and comp % for a rookie is Ben, which neither Mariota, nor Winston will break. But Baconator please, which records are they breaking?
You guys will parse stats a million ways to prove our guy is better than the next

What's wrong with Carr being a better Qb?? Who cares? ? Give props where they're due.

/I notice you didn't include int stats....

who are you talking to
Clearly I'm replying to you.
Except I have INT right there...

And I'm not discounting Carr. If you read a few posts up I'm defending him along with the other QBs. I'm just taking exception to you making it seem like Carr is so much above Bortles there shouldn't even be an argument which is going a step too far.

Carr is 2.0% Blake is 2.6% not a huge difference.

I like Carr, I just think Blake has a little more "it factor" and is younger so possibly more room to grow. I think they're 1a/1b. You can make a case for whichever one you think is better.
It's still too early to tell which QB is better.  All I know is that we have a QB who's 23 years old on track to throw 30+ TDs and 4,000 yards.
