Quote:Carr is 2.0% Blake is 2.6% not a huge difference.

I like Carr, I just think Blake has a little more "it factor" and is younger so possibly more room to grow. I think they're 1a/1b. You can make a case for whichever one you think is better.
that's fair
Quote:How is Bortles' rookie year even comparable to what Winston and Mariota are doing in their rookie years?

It's not comparable at all - when he was drafted, it was made clear that he was too raw to expect anything from him in his rookie year, and that the plan was to leave him on the bench behind Henne the whole year. Other teams with interest said similar things. And in practice he wasn't prepared for anything other than holding a clipboard that year.

So yeah, you'd have to be intellectually dishonest (or intellectually challenged) to try to compare them.
Not possibly, Blake has a lot more room to go. His ceiling is without a doubt the highest of any of the young QBs. His footwork is still not consistent and he only started 27 or 28 games in college, tied for the least with Jameis. Mariota, Carr, and Bridgewater were all three year starters. When Bortles' footwork is right his arm is as strong as any of them, he is the biggest yet just as mobile as all of them, hell he's probably the most athletic physically behind Mariota at 20lbs heavier than Mariota, and has a great mentality.

Bortles and Carr have similar ceilings in my eyes. I think people are quick to discredit Carrs potential just because he was in the same draft as Blake.
It still baffles me how anyone can think Bortles isn't going to be something special, and that he isn't very good. Complete morons, all of those types!

We've seen our fair share of bad quarterback play as Jags fans, and they don't think Bortles is the one we want/need?

I don't think their ceilings are similar. Bortles has another dimension to his game that Carr doesn't on top of being 2 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier. If Bortles learns to protect the ball as well as Carr and gets to where Carr is mechanically he will be far and away better and probably in Aaron Rodgers territory, because that is essentially who Blake will be, just bigger.

What an awful argument. Carr is 6ft 3 its not like he's a midget? He has all the tools necessary to be just as good as Blake will be.
I think people are forgetting Carr is still of the David Carr bloodline. Blood wins out eventually. That, and a HC who quits on his team, I expect Carr to be de-shelling shrimp in 4 years at the local seafood shack.

Quote:Lol @ the downplaying of Carr in here. Check the stats....Blake has a few more passing yards and a couple more tds...Carr is better everywhere else

1. Carr

2. Mariota

3. Blake

Your nuts putting Mariota ahead of Bortles. I think he'll be a good QB but Im not putting him ahead of bortles

stats don't lie

Let's revisit this topic next year at this time and see if your feelings have changed.

It wouldn't matter if Bortles had 0 interceptions and 40 touchdowns.  He'd still have something to complain about with Bortles.

Which stat are you talking about by the way? The 30 to 19 TD's or the 800+ more yards BB5 has thrown for? Or perhaps are you talking about BB5's 18 more passing yards per game?

I think MM supporters are very nervous about year 2 and are trying to milk his rookie accolades.

I'm talking about completion %. TO rate, and qbr

So you are going to put a dink and dunk QB with a higher completion % up on a pedestal? Seriously, how many turnovers do you expect him to have with his style of play?
I expect him to complete short game passes better. Let's start there. His accuracy is way too shaky

The things you want BB5 to do better are far more fixable than the things MM doesn't do.

We have a lot of blind Mariota supporters that visit this forum
The last four games for Blake have been lights out.

91 for 145  62.7

1,143 yards.

11 TDs 2 INTS

I'm with you one this one, friend.

One thing I'll add that I think folks that don't MM may not be aware of is that he's a one read qb.

If he doesn't figure out how to drop back and go through progressions, good defenses will figure him out next year.

Also, his mid and long range throws are very inaccurate, he's gotta fix that, or defenses will start sitting on routes.
