Quote:Alualu's starting spot was definitely usurped, he's just utility depth at this point, and Branch they've given enough rope to hang himself. He had a great game, but unless he's turned the corner and plays good the rest of the way I can't see him as anything more than utility depth, either.
Upgrading and trying to upgrade are two completely different things.

They've been trying to upgrade for years, but both are still on the roster and still getting significant amount of playing time. Obviously upgrading these players isn't as easy as some like to think.
During half time I think Gus curled up into a ball and sobbed that he would lose his job if the team didn't win soon.  So, out of pity...

But seriously, without having the benefit of watching the game and knowing our level of coaching talent, I wonder if this game was more lost by the clots than won by the Jags. Yes, I still remain staunchly skeptical.

Quote:It's only a redemption game if it signals a turn for the team. Jaguars win out on the season and play as well as they did in the second half today and Gus suddenly is a guy who just needed time and everyone is glad to have him back, if the Jaguars come out and put up another game like they did against the Chargers then today's game ends up meaning very little in the grand scheme.

Thank you, Gus.

Gus has his team popping franchise records. Listen to Bortles post game presser and take in the praise he gives Gus. This team loves playing for the guy. Not a chance he does not return next year,

Yes, props to Gus, props indeed.

...On the Hurns pass for a first down...which was called short of the first...Gus let the offense go out and try to draw the Clots offsides. If that succeeds, there is no need to risk a challenge. It didn't, he challenged and won the challenge. Even to most serious Gus hater has got to concede that was a nice job of head coaching. Also, nice adjustment at the half. Really nice. If Gus's job was at risk, he saved it today, I suspect.

Gus is my hero

Yeah this was a very "heads up" decision making by Gus. Kudos to him. This is the type of stuff that he has typically failed before, but can't complain with him today.

So twice a season?

Not if its digital.
First challenge he's ever won?

None of the posters who want Gus gone will acknowledge anything good having anything to do with Gus...They will say we won in spite of Gus and Gus had nothing to do with anything good...Only the bad [BLEEP] will they credit Gus with, never anything good...
I'd like to be a fly on the wall going into half time.  I have a feeling there was a tantrum.  They came out like the game didn't matter.  Good on 'em if he is figuring it out.  I hope he can prove me wrong but I have a suspicion it is going to be one wild riding in 2016.

He was the better coach today and looked the part.  He showed confidence...it rubbed off on the team.  Ole Pagano on the other hand looked lost and bemused.

Hate to tell you but the Gus be gone... and simple Gus crowd are giving him props.  Myself included in that round of discussions.  I have to give credit where credit is due.

First time for everything I guess...
If he continues to let the offense do it's thing, and starts blitzing like he did today, he's gonna have more success.

Today was a great win, and there's really nothing any critic of Gus can throw out about this game that has any validity.  This team came together in all aspects, and that including the coaching AND the head coach specifically.

Great win against the clots!  Kudos to Gus and the Jaguars.  Now if we can continue from what we learned today, we're gonna be dynastic.  I'll enjoy this week, and let's see what happens next Sunday.

And he let the clock run in the process, very Belichick-esque there.

He knows they can be had.  Got to have stung, the loss in Indy...its manner.  And he said it was built for the South crown, i.e. built to beat Indy.  This was a great moment for him and the team.  Once you take down the champs by this margin, you announce to the division what's in stock.  Now find a way to split with Houston, and I'll say, sir you were right.  Take away the fluky/leggy losses at Indy and Nashville, you can say he's 'virtually' 4-1 in the division thus far.
