Quote:I thought you guys were talking about Mike Mularkey for a second there. Mariota is good.
Gotta admit, Mariota burning the Jags on the blitz with that long run was a thing of beauty.
We have had six (6) games where we have surrendered 30 points or more.

51 allowed vs. Pats-Loss

38 allowed vs. Bucs-Loss; point differential:  -7

31 allowed vs. Texans-Loss; point differential: -11

31 allowed vs. Bills-Win

31 allowed vs. Chargers-Loss

42 allowed vs. Tacks-Loss; point differential: -3

Total record in these games:  1-5

Of those 5 losses, offense or special teams gave up points or point blank field position in 3 games:

-21 points vs. Bucs (fumble by grant, punt returns, INT)

-7 points vs. Texans (pick 6)

-9 points vs. Tacks (fumbled snap for TD, two extra points).

If we eliminated the mistakes in these three games, we would have allowed 30+points in 4 the 6 games listed above, and we likely win at least two of those games, and we'd be 6-6-right in the midst of the playoff hunt.

Yes we need defense first and foremost.

But the turnovers need to stop too.

Quote:Then why is he 3-9?

I cannot believe we handed him a win today.  Shoot me now.  The dude should be 2-10...

Such a sloppy play---  He burned the jags...  But I wouldn't call it a thing of beauty.  Go look at Vick's TD run against the vikings...  That was a thing of beauty.  MM's TD run was against a sloppy, lazy, poorly coached defense.
Quote:Darn right they are.  But it's not enough in this type of defense.  The Seattle D is too demanding in this day and age.  It's a terrible D unless you have at least 4 all-pro players in at the LB and Secondary positions.

That's too much to ask for from any team.  We need to change our scheme.  This one ain't gonna get it done.

Surprisingly, I actually agree with this a little bit. It was painfully obvious last 3 weeks the scheme vs. personnel are not in sync. Injuries, DL age, and lack of impact drafting has killed this defense. We have one LB out there that literally doesn't react until the ball is halfway to a receiver (Armbrister). He should be bagging groceries. Cyprien continues to lack consistency, Evans is in over his head, Poz/Miller/Clemons have finally hit the "over the hill". Branch/davis/Smith have all disappeared thanks to the interior being exposed.

Its an all out collapse on defense honestly but the good news is help is on the way. Father time will actually be our greatest ally with Fowler/Marks coming back healthy and hopefully its a good year to draft heavy on defense.
Quote:Yes, Poz can't cover TE's,  Must be Gus fault.  Yes, fire Gus.
WELCOME ABOARD BRO!!! Glad to see you've come around to the 'right' side.
Quote:Telvin, Marks, House, and Colvin are pretty good.

Those are about the only ones I'd keep.. Everyone else can go suck eggs..
