Quote:You can't call anyone a Pro Bowler until he has been there. Allen Robinson is playing great this season, but the only way to be a Pro Bowler is play in that game. Just be happy about the 1,000 yards in a season -not a hard feat to accomplish at Tennessee.
J-dub, you make it hard for yourself. How can you check someone for saying someone is a pro bowler before they make the pro bowl when you said be happy about the 1000 season before Robinson gets 1,000 yards...
I am being dead serious when I say I have NEVER had a conversation with anybody on this planet as dumb as her.
Obviously I was assuming Robinson is going to get voted to the Pro Bowl since he is playing out of his mind this season. With Hurns possibly out, it wouldn't surprise me if ARob gets around 1,400 yards and 11TDs.
He would need to average around 94 yards per game and score 3 more TDs to reach that mark.
Those are Pro Bowl numbers.
With other teams going to the playoffs, I'm pretty sure ARob gets in.
Top 5 no doubt. Arizona, GB, and Pitt are very very good. Maybe we're #4.
I agree..Yeah the Packers pulled James Jones off the scrap heap
Quote:Health not being a factor, other teams have outstanding corps also.
In no ranking order:
Packers: Randall Cobb, James Jones, Davante Adams
Steelers: Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Markus Wheaton
Cardinals: L.Fitzgerald, John Brown, Michael Floyd
Bengals: AJ Green, Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu
Broncos: Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Andre Caldwell
Raiders: Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, Andre Holmes
So I went with each teams top 3, which a few I really wasnt sure who to put as their third guy ala Raiders,Broncos,Bengals but I believe they may also target their TE's a bit more.
But here's a little list so folks can try and decide.
Quote:Packers? lol. The Packers would kill to have our WRs this year. Maybe with Jordy Nelson you can have a conversation, but Marquis Lee is better than Devante "Drop" Adams. and the rest of them are nothing to write home about. Give the Packers the Jaguars WRs this year and they'd be unstoppable.
Cards and Broncos I'll give you, but the Steelers, Bengals and Raiders have one great WR and after that is at best just comparable to the Jaguars.
.
The bronco's WRs are inconsistent. Plus with Manning out, I think they fall down in terms of production. I think we now have a better corp than Denver. My brother is a Bronco fan, he constantly complains about D. Thomas because of his diva attitude. If his head doesn't get in the game early, he pretty much sulks the rest of a game. That's not the type of WR you want as your #1 guy.
Quote:You should probably include the Jets and Falcons as well.
Overall I'm thinking the Jaguars WRs are borderline top five.
If we are talking about the receiver group as a whole. As in all 5 or 6 WRs, then I think the Jets are outside the top 5.
Quote:Look at these two a little closer.
The Packers don't have Jordy Nelson this year so you can't count him, and Adams absolutely SUCKS. Alvis Whitted had better hands than Adams making the WR of no more use than the Albino Tiger. This leaves Cobb, Montgomery and Jones. Jones and Walters is a wash, and ARob and Hurns are far and away better than the Rodgers-made Cobb and Montgomery. The Jaguars also have Rashad Greene. It's really not even close. As I just said, if Rodgers had the Jaguars WRs this year the Packers would be on top of the league.
The Steelers have Antonio Brown who may be the best WR in the league and is easily better than ARob, but Hurns is better than Martavis Bryant. I'll give the Steelers an edge with the two, but Greene and Lee help to offset that edge. Walters vs Wheaton is a wash. It's at least very close.
Well... I specified "healthy" with the Pack... take away any teams top WR and the rest probably take a hit to the stats.
I can't count Greene or Lee for anything, basically on lack of proof of the pudding.
Yes, I think the Allens are a top WR duo. But I would just be reluctant to name our total group the best, considering other teams have a great top two options as well, and our 3-6 guys can't possibly be considered better than anyone else's.
Greene and Lee both could become special... and we could be a team that has a really good problem in a couple years of trying to resign guys.
But for now? I'd rank our entire WR corp as top 5. But the best is yet to be seen

Lee is better than Adams?
Adams - 70 catches on 129 targets for 768 yards. 54% comp. 10.9 yards per catch 3 TD
Lee - 42 of 80 for 473 52% 11.3 1 TD
Better? Maybe a wash. Let us not forget the best ability is availability

Respectfully disagree. Everyone's certainly entitled to their opinions, especially when it comes to "rankings" of any kind.
The only reason I listed the Packers was because I stated "health aside", which meant I included Nelson.
Steelers, no way I'd consider Lee/Greene as good as Wheaton. Not yet. Wheaton had an absolute monster game Sunday. Steelers might have the best WR core in footbal. That's just my opinion.
Bengals I'd put just over the Jags too. Green is better than Robinson for now (although it's probably close). Green's numbers suffer because the other receivers including Eifert gobble up a ton of production.Marvin Jones and Hurns are very close. Marvin Jones is seriously underrated, but he's very good. Sanu, he's better than Lee/Greene by far IMO.
Jags are up there too. But it's really only the duo of ARob and Hurns. Lee and Greene are just guys for now. Lee is hardly ever available. And when he does play,, there's very little shown from him IMO. He's not very good at this point IMO.
But the arrow is definitely pointing up for Jax. No doubt about it. They have a tandem that should be excellent for quite a few years.

You forget that Jaguars players need to break records twice over in order to be even considered an average player
Quote:I'm not sure I'd say we have the best anything....
maybe fans with all do respect to GB and Etc!
We have arguably the best duo in the NFL. They're the best young duo without a doubt.
We could (key word "COULD") have arguably the best young WR corps in the NFL, but that'll highly depend on how Lee and Greene finish this season and go into next year.
We're definitely up towards the top end of WR corps though. The one thing that really stands out for me and some of those other teams you guys listed. All those teams have at least 1 well established Veteran, who has been in the league for multiple years and have played at very high levels.
I mean just go down the list,
Steelers - Brown. 6th year
Cards - Fitz. 12th year
Bengals - Green. 5th year
Packers - Nelson hurt obviously, but Cobb. 5th year
Broncos - Thomas. 6th year
All of our guys are 2nd year players and a rookie. We don't have that well established vet on this WR corp. It's very impressive what some of our young guys have accomplished so far and there's no reason they can't bring it up to another level next year and beyond.

After Green, Jones, and Sanu...who does the Bengals have that is better in your opinion.
Green over Hurns
Robinson over Jones
Sanu over Lee
Greene over ?
Walters over ?
According to this layout the Bengals only have 2 better WRs out of 5.
As a whole unit (meaning all 5 players), I think the Jags have the better unit.
Quote:Steelers have the best in my opinion.
I don't know about that but WR Antonio Brown is probably the best WR in the NFL this year, can you imagine a team that has him Megatron (Calvin Johnson from the Lions), Larry Fitzgerald from the cardinals, Julian Edelman and Allen Robinson on it?
That would be fierce!
