A lot of Jags fans don't understand
1) Being 23, some people don't know how good Blake will be.
2) Some fans don't understand basic statistics.......if you throw the ball 40 times per game, you WILL throw 1 INT.
I totally agree 2 touchdowns and one int after throwing 300 yards you cant blame this loss soley on blake by most team standards he did okay.
We need a lock down CB.
We can have Lawrence Taylor rushing for us and it wouldn't help.
These days QBs get the ball out so fast to these quick WRs and let them Yac.
A Derelle Revis or Patrick Peterson shuts that stuff down.
Of course QBs still work the play action and take 5 step drops, but not many.
Marks and Fowler will fix our defensive line issues, but we need to draft a CB in round 1.
I just hope whenever he throws the 1 INT, its within the first 2 minutes of the game and in the opponents half of the field.
He definitely shows signs of improving, but the dumb mistakes like throwing beyond the line of scrimmage (twice) realllllly throw some doubt as to what is going on upstairs.

If Hargreaves is still on the board at our pick, it's a no brainer. Ramsey at FS would be an excellent choice also. I don't think Ramsey should be a CB in the NFL. I think he could be an elite safety though.
I have no issue with the amount of INTs Blake throws.
Space... Were not cutting him. Stop it please.

I agree, it would be a no brainer. We haven't had a CB since Mathis.
Right now we have a bunch of Terry Cousins.
I have an issue with the timing of his interceptions because they always seem to be at the worst times, but no matter he is throwing td's at an historic rate with the Jags.

How in the heck is someone allowed to throw 42 ints in a season damn!!
Gus will never draft Heargraves..(thank god) He's soft and overrated. And I'm a huge Gators fan and have been since my 1st game at the Swamp in 1984.

Fixed it for ya.
I hope Gus has no say in any type of drafting decisions. The guy has a hard time figuring out who to start on this team as it is!
I'm not concerned about Blake's overall INTs because he's shown the ability to make up for them with TDs.. I've noticed that when he throws an INT, he usually scores soon after. Now the 1 pick six every 3 games is still a bit much.
What encourages me with Blake's play as of late is that he's still taking his shots deep, but at the same time his completion ratio is much better. Here's are Blake's total stats for the past two weeks...

51 of 79 (64.6%) for 571 yards (7.2 YPA, 285.5 yds.gm), 3 TDs (3.8%) and 2 INTs (2.5%) for a qb rating of 88.1.

8 carries for 42 yards (5.3 ypc) with 1 lost fumble.

In this last game the Jaguars had 3 drives stall for a FG. I don't recall how many they had last week. Had these resulted in passing TDs, Blake's TD% and qb rating would be much better, and he'd be 2-0 in these games instead of 1-1. Previously we were saying how the next step is for Blake to get his completion percentage higher. I feel like he's done that. Now his next step is throw a good fade pass so the Jaguars can start scoring in the red zone.
Gonna have a career like Cutler if he can't clean up the mistakes.
And I don't mean that in a good way.
Will put up stats for sure, but you never trust him to win you games.
Agreed he has impressed me how he can bounce back after throwing a pick and still come back and almost won this game.
Blake has been sacked 32 times (3rd in the NFL) and wouldve been more had he not be able to avoid sacks in the pocket.

I'm going back and forth about CB early, though we do need to load up on defense.
I think a huge part of the equation is something you mentioned in passing: play action, which only works if you are willing and able to run the ball.
I think Linder returning to health will help some, but this team needs to be more physical in the trenches.

The team is putting too much on his shoulders at this stage.
They need to support him with the running game.
He responded pretty well after that INT, but it seems like too many of them are deep in our zone. That was a tough one to watch; them getting a TD just before the half, with the ball to start the 3rd. Those are big momentum builders.
Anyway, you have a point about the INT percentage.

Maybe but there is no excuse for some of the stuff he does. He throws it up for grabs way too often. Throwing the ball past the LOS twice in the redzone? That fumble vs the Jets where he ran lateral at the LOS like an idiot before getting hit. I don't see some of the other young QBs making all the boneheaded decisions every game.
It just screams Cutler to me. Puts up the stats and has games where you wonder why he isn't one of the games best. Then makes some of the worst decisions that reminds you why he is who he is.
