Is anyone watching this? If he drives down the field and beats the Cardinals that will all but confirm that this franchise is snakebitten.
He balling against Arizona. Crazy.
24/35 300 yards right now.
The talented, but raw QB needed time to sit and develop instead of being thrown into the fire? I'm shocked.

He still doesn't know how to throw the ball away though
He still seems to feel pressure at times when it isnt there

Wonder how much influence Harbaugh had on his development. Or if we were to keep him playing and learning on the field if he would have figured it out then too.
We will never know. But the kid is doing well.
yall are obsessed

It's like watching your ex girlfriend date someone way better looking than you after you kicked her to the curb.
Gabbert isn't awful but he was never going to get good in Jacksonville. He was too young and raw coming into the league and should never have started for 2 years - sitting behind Gerrard would have done him wonders.

Everyone needed to move on when he was traded away and it looks like it worked out for both parties. You never know, but I doubt he would have figured it out here. I think he needed to sit back and learn the game for a year or two with no pressure to really be the franchise QB.

JDR really screwed him over his rookie season. He was drafted during the lockout, so he couldn't talk with any of the coaches at all that offseason and it ended right before training camp. Also within a span of a month he went from the 3rd QB on the depth chart to the starter after Garrard got injured and JDR benched McCown after naming him the starter only a couple weeks prior.

Gabbert looked like he had no business on field his rookie season and that pretty much set the tone for his tenure here.

I told you all that he was better than Kaepernick but you did not believe me. It really did not matter who we drafted at QB in 2011-2013; we had (and in some ways still do) an atrocious O-line and mediocre receiving talent. There is no way that any QB could have thrived in those conditions.

I agree, just interesting to think about
Well Gabbert definately has played better the last couple weeks than he ever did here. I think not having the pressure of being the 'man' has really helped him. But he wasn't going to do it here. He regressed bad his last year here, and he was pretty horrible before. I am glad he is looking like a decent backup QB now and hope he continues to grow. No way he is better than Bortles tho. I don't think any of us have regrets about Blaine being traded.

Somewhere, Gene Smith is shouting at his TV. Can you hear it? I can.

"I knew Gabbert was good, but nobody believed me. WHY DIDN'T THEY BELIEVE ME?!"
I always thought Gabbert was a misfit in Jacksonville. He went from a shotgun-heavy spread attack to being a run game manager. We drafted him with the idea he will become a star in the NFL after learning how to take snaps from under the center. He was doomed from the start.

In San Francisco, Gabbert's new head coach was the guy whose specialty was helping quarterbacks get better. Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick played better for Jim Harbaugh than anyone expected. Also, Harbaugh likes to pass more while JDR preferred the run, so the 49ers offense was a better fit for Gabbert.

Harbaugh isn't there anymore.
