The problem was that Bortles repeatedly came up small when the Jaguars got into big situations, down around the goal line. The defense wasn't great, but if the Jaguars score 4 TDs instead of 2 TDs and 2 FGs they're in a completely different game.

Actually, the lack of a pass rush is the real problem.

Look at the lengths of their careers. How many second-year quarterbacks can come close to the numbers of guys over age 30?

Nothing against Poz, but if Kuechly or Patrick Willis is running MLB in this game, Rivers throws at least 2 picks. At least.

 

Rivers is very good at it but he flounders against teams that have someone on the opposite side that doesn't put up with that nonsense.

The question is though why aren't we spreading the offense out on red zone attempts which always seems to work? Instead of a bunch formation -.-

He was clicking just fine on that drive. Next thing you know...stupid hold by Joke after a nice completion after a nice strike downfield and boom. If you want to kill him for the INT then kill him. I wont.

People don't seem to understand this. Our pass rush can't get home and that's the most important thing.

I understand it. I also know we have a pass rush on injured reserve. We will get better at it next year.

Somehow, 8 of 11 opponents have found a way to beat him despite his 3500 yards passing.

I don't think any of those teams were as incompetent as the Jaguars are in the redzone.

 

It's so bad that, even with all the good Greg Olsen has brought to this team, I wouldn't shed a tear if he left. You have to try very hard to be that bad in the redzone

The last two times Rivers played Willis he put 34+ points on them both times...


Our D just isn't good enough to stop someone of Rivers caliber.


And that "nonsense" of reading the defense is probably the most important skill a QB can have. Just look at what Bradys doing this season at 38.

What I said all week is no defense is good enough to stop someone of his caliber. Why don't other people understand this?

Yeah you were right. I think almost everyone expected Rivers to throw for 300 yards + . Thought we could manage that and still get the W though.

Defensive scheme is "bend but don't break"....like we're afraid of Rivers.......Very few times was he rattled in the pocket.....Very passive defensive effort today.

It makes no sense to expect the Jaguars to win a game despite allowing the opposing quarterback to throw for 300 yards.
