Quote:The last two times Rivers played Willis he put 34+ points on them both times...
Our D just isn't good enough to stop someone of Rivers caliber.
And that "nonsense" of reading the defense is probably the most important skill a QB can have. Just look at what Bradys doing this season at 38.
Willis was probably a bad example. He's a guy who did make calls at the line for the Niners for awhile and was pretty decent at it.
Kuechly, for sure, is an example of a guy who can make line calls toe-to-toe with the best quarterbacks in the game. Carolina suffocated the Chargers' passing game in their one meeting, and it's not like Carolina was this great team on defense in 2012. But you can bet Kuechly was running that defense.
No one's saying Rivers is a bad quarterback, and I think you're putting unnecessary emphasis on it being "nonsense". It's just a word to describe presnap shenanigans. But you don't sit there and let a quarterback make presnap reads and do jack squat about it. The Jaguars will continue to lose badly to quarterbacks like this until they're able to make presnap reads of their own on defense.
Stop with the Luke Kuechly crap. He is one of the best linebackers in football. You can't compare a guy like him many other NFL players.

We don't have the scheme or players to defend Philip Rivers effectively its as simple as that. Magical counter audibles by Poz aren't going to change that fact.Rivers will probably go down as one of the top 20 QBs in NFL history stats wise.

This is the day to say blow it out your piss

You're right. But it certainly increases the chances of the opposing quarterback making a mistake with the football.

Um, who does
not make a mistake with the football?
Not really a surprise a QB of Rivers caliber did...hell we nearly got ripped apart by EJ Manuel after he graciously gave us 14 points in 2 minutes.

What does? Your very much so mistaken if you don't think Poz was calling counter audibles.

Of course E.J. Manuel was not nearly as good at trying to rip us apart.
You mean Gus' D can't get it done unless they're facing Tyrod Taylor's backup or a 1st year rookie?

Did you forget about Ryan Tannehill and Joe Flacco? Also, we nearly got it done against Matt Hasselbeck.
So all the sudden we forgot that we don't have a pass rush and now want to fire the DC. Is what it is boys, until we have a solid edge rusher. The rest of the D is serviceable.
From the Del Rio days we have tried to add an edge rusher. All we needed then, all we need now. Such is the way of any team.

Again someone forgot we do have an edge rusher - one who will be solid for years to come. Look up #56 on the injured reserve list.

And the legend of a player who has never taken a snap in the NFL, and is coming off a major injury, grows and grows.

Do you read what you post before you hit the post button?

I'm fine with the hope for Fowler but the odds are going to be against him. We don't have a great track record of selecting pass rushers, the injury, missing an entire rookie year, it all adds up against him.
This was a given. He has been putting up nice stats all season even with issues on his team.
The Jaguars Defense is ranked 25th against the Pass but honestly can't figure out why they aren't ranked 32...
Rivers, and any other QB with his experience, is basically a coach on the field. He'll find the glaring weakness in this mish-mash D and exploit it. He's done it for years.
The last time we beat the Chargers they had LT and were more of a run-heavy team.
Certainties in Life....
Death
Taxes
Jaguars looking for a pass rusher
Jaguars inability to cover the TE
Honestly the entire league is looking for QBs and Pass Rushers as yearly need. We just haven't had anyone stand out since Tony Brackens. Yikes!
