Quote:Less taxes also equals less expenditure equals less jobs too
...

This fallacy of depleting capital markets to prop them up has been disproven so many times...
Quote:Trump's first full month in office brings massive employment boom as U.S. companies added whopping 298,000 new jobs in February
  • New job figures from ADP beat economists' estimates by more than 100,000
  • Official February numbers will be out on Friday and are expected to lower the unemployment rate to 4.7 per cent
  • Trump tweeted that January and February 'were the strongest consecutive months for hiring since August and September 2015'
  • That language came from a similar report compiled by LinkedIn

I wonder what would happen if unemployment ever got down to 4.7% for real. That would be like 1% on the U3.

Quote:That was always a labor dept function.  There are 6 different unemployment numbers they used to report.  I think they stopped reporting U4, U5 and U6 several years ago.  The number frequently reported is U2.  www.shadowstats.com still calculates all 6 numbers.  I think U6 is around 26%.
You got the right place. Shadowstats is awesome for real unemployment. U3 is the new narrow focus, U6 was the broader one used till Bush (I believe). Both were changed/modified for Obama in 2009. I don't know about a U5 or U4. Reagan used something completely different at the beginning of his term.

Basically U3 is half of U6 which is half of reality. See chart below, notice the changes after 2009.

Also a explanation of the terms:

This one is my favorite. Comparing 1980's CPI to the current one. Every time I hear about how we have so 'little inflation' I laugh. Its the whole reason I found shadowstats in the first place. [Image: sgs-cpi.gif?hl=ad&t=1487178029]

I must live in a bubble, but I don't know anyone who was seeking employment and didn't find work. The only friend I had who was unemployed, was a stay at home dad while he went back to school. Once he started looking it took a couple month maybe. Also I don't the we should look at labor participation rate  with an aging work force, or is that taken into consideration.

U2 went out of style years ago and Bono sucks.
