Quote:...Would you still complain if this game was the Superbowl and we won on a field goal with no time left in regulation? Granted, there were some ugly plays out there today, but a win is a win. The Jags won the turnover battle- and made plays when they needed to. The Ravens shot themselves in the foot with penalties, and that facemask on the second to last play by Dumervil defies belief. At the end of the day, we're 3-6, and are still in the race for the AFC South title; that's all that matters.

On a side note, the Jaguars got their first win in Baltimore since 1999-handing Joe Flacco only his 3rd home loss in the month of November.
Yes... this was an ugly game on both sides of the ball. That being said, an ugly win counts the same as a 'pretty' win, and an ugly win is prettier than a pretty loss. We did a few good things and a whole bucket full of bad things. So did the ravens... but as they say, timing is everything; that face mask penalty at the very end of regulation play changed the outcome of the game. I think the ravens helped us as much as we did ourselves. We won, but we clearly didn't 'beat' anybody.
Quote:The development of a team is, lose big, lose small, win small, win big.  Win big comes last.  I do think the Jags are due for a big game soon.
thursday we smash the tacks

We've spent most of this season beating ourselves. In games like yesterday, more often than not, we find a way to lose, as our record indicates.

Yesterday, the Ravens did that job for us. I'll take it, especially on the road.

But you have to remember...

Gus is just a place holder for the "real coach."

Quote:No, this isn't progress.  A lucky win against a bad team is not progress, it's just a lucky win against a bad team.  Progress is improvement,  As the team improves the wins will come and they will be increasingly decisive.  Until then, they will be infrequent, against weak teams and look much like todays.
Well, you go right ahead and wring your hands over a "lucky win".

If you can't see progress from this team, you've got your head in the sand.
They had some ugly losses this year so its nice to have an ugly win.  Get over it a win is a win, plus it was a road win

We always have the weirdest games with Baltimore..

Yeah really. It's amazing, we win and somehow for some it's still not good enough. I think some here are under this delusion that we are supposed to be blowing people out like we're the Patriots.

I remember 1996, there was a game late in the season where we were behind at the end of the game, Ravens had the ball and could run out the clock, and Vinny Testeverde just dropped the ball without any Jaguar near him, we recovered and got a miracle win as Mark Brunell rolled out on a naked bootleg and dove into the left hand corner of the end zone at the end of the game.

How many teams in the league do you think we would have defeated with yesterday's performance?

Allen, Allen and Telvin all look like stars, beyond them where is all this "progress"?  O-line can't open a hole and Bortles still can't get through a game without making a couple of really bad decisions about where to throw the ball.  Our D-line doesn't exactly get the other QB running for his life.  How would you describe our place kicker.......sketchy, unpredictable, cross your fingers?  Maybe you believe the coaching improved dramatically overnight simply because we won a game....I don't. Oh, let's not forget special teams, how "special" was that.

All good comments by everyone and it's true, a win is a win is a win. That said, don't forget a 2-6 team beat another 2-6 team (barely).
I used to complain about ugly wins in 1999.  Now I'm grateful for them.

No such thing as a pretty loss either. The things that worry me is what was Blake thinking doing some things he did and not see some of these wide open WR. We won this so what will they do against TEN. We are 0-2 in the Division and to win the division you have to beat the teams in it.

1.  Given the performance, we probably wouldn't have beaten too many teams.  But we only had to beat Baltimore, and we did.  Put another way, how many teams that have a -3 turnover ratio for a game typically win or deserve to win?

2.  By week 10 we have three wins.  No, that isn't the desired record to have at this point.  But we won 3 games all of last year and we still have 7 games left to play this year.  We won 4 games all of 2013, and didn't have our first win until week 10 and our third win until week 13.  We went 5 and 11 in 2012.  We have a young QB who, while inconsistent, has already thrown for 19 TDs.  We haven't had a QB throw for 19 TDs since Garrard in 2010, when he threw 23.  Last year, our leading rusher was Denard robinson with 582 yards.  This year, with 7 games left, TJ Yeldon has 531.  In 2013, the Jaguars ranked 29th against the run.  Last year, the Jaguars ranked 27th against the run. Thus far this year, the Jaguars rank 6th against the run. Does any of this guarantee favorable results the rest of the year?  No. Is there as much progress as we'd like to see?  No.   But to suggest there are NO signs of progress whatsoever outside of the Allens and Telvin Smith is misleading and inaccurate.

How can we? People like you won't let us forget.

Look, we all know our team just isn't that good right now and has a horribad record under Bradley. Considering how few and far between the Ws have come over the last 7-8 years, you'd think people would be more inclined to enjoy them when they happen.

I think some of the posters in here have actually forgotten how to enjoy a Jags victory.

They are just so used to complaining after a Jags game, that's all they know how to do, so they just complain win or lose.
