I hate the "on pace" stuff media guys love to bring up. Players never do it at any position.

 

BTW Pro Bowlers catch over 100 passes.

BTW, only one person had 100+ catches in last year's Pro-Bowl. 

 

Should they get 12+ touchdowns, there's no reason they shouldn't make it if they perform as they're doing.

Yards and TDs over heavily shadow catches. Especially now with everyone playing fantasy football

 Many players worthy of a Pro Bowl opportunity are overlooked.   In the case of the two Jags WRs,  their greatest obstacle is the lack of overall National TV appearances.   The Patriots,  Broncos,  and Colts are on National TV repeatedly,   which gives their players a huge advantage in the AFC Pro Bowl voting process.   

One if not both will be deserving of a pro bowl bid. One if not both will be snubbed. Marks was a prime example. Didn't he have better numbers and was still only an alternate? The only thing Hurns and Robinson have that gives them a shot is the FF football craze. In my league I've got several guys who are pretty good fans who had no idea Robinson was this good and 2 didn't even know who Hurns was until they started winning them games

Hell..Luck will still continue his mediocre season and he will still get voted in and will be top 15 on the top 100 players list.

That happened to Josh Scobee. Five years ago he was the best kicker in the NFL and scored from 59 yards out, but the AFC representative was Baltimore's Billy Cundiff. In no way was Cundiff a better kicker than Scobee that year.

 

Another problem is team popularity. Fans are allowed to vote as often as they want to. But the biggest one is team record. Typically the team with the most Pro Bowlers is one that went to the playoffs.

It is amazing especially when you consider that neither receiver is gifted with particularly great hands.  I'm not knocking them at all, Jimmy Smith himself wasn't exactly the most sure handed receiver but it is mind boggling to think what they could be accomplishing if they'd clean up the drops a little.  No question Dave Caldwell has earned his money with those two.

Allen Robinson is grabbing balls with players mugging him. He went through a phase of drops but has shown pretty good hands through his career. All receivers will drop the ball. Can remember Jimmy dropping plenty.

Marquise Lee is on pace for 6 catches, 80 yards, zero t.d.'s...........BTW, that's an expense of over $ 200,000 per catch based on his average yearly salary.

That's just bc he didn't have enough blow that game

good point about the fantasy thing

but Pro Bowl doesn't mean what it used to.

With it being "unconferenced" like it has been, neither of them will merit consideration barring injuries and players stepping down from going. They will have to beat out the likes of:

Demaryius Thomas

Brandon Marshall

Larry Fitzgerald

T.Y. Hilton

A.J. Green

To those complaining about the pro bowl voting due to exposure.....

 

You do realize most of the time fans have no say in who goes right...

 

Yes fans can vote as many times as they want, but it still only makes up 1/3 of the vote. The players picked for the pro bowl are usually voted there by players and coaches which makes up 2/3 of the vote. And players and coaches usually vote for guys on teams with winning records or give bias for star veterans. I have a feeling one of the Allens will get voted in. Esp since Revis did a jersey swap with A.Rob, something that he doesn't do often.

I think Robinson makes the pro bowl and Hurns maybe as a reserve. I feel like Robinson is slightly more well known and has slightly better stats.

Just because of their name I'm assuming? It's sad because Robinson is doing better than half of those guys.

  One facet of the Pro Bowl selection process that I forgot about when offering my thoughts in this thread early this morning is that Conference is no longer part of the Pro Bowl process.   Whether that helps one or both of the Jaguars WRs remains to be seen.    It could potentially hurt their chances from the standpoint that its less likely that NFC players and coaches will have seen the two WRs play in multiple games than AFC players and coaches.   

 

 

  Team success,  along with exposure,  are definitely factors in which players end up in the Pro Bowl.  

 

  If the goal is for the most deserving players to get selected to the Pro Bowl,   Pro Scouts should probably be used to make the selections.

I'm not saying you're wrong.... but AR15 belongs in there, somewhere.
