I'll reserve judgement until I hear the official position of the National Sandwich Council. This decision could have serious implications for the hamburger and we may need to get Congress involved.

I had a publix chicken strip and put it on a hot dog bun yesterday making it a chicken sandwich. So if I substitute the chicken for a hot dog why is not still a sandwich? This is meat discrimination and I won't stand for it!

Turkey between two slices of bread is a sandwich. Take away the bread it's just turkey.
A hot dog on a bun is a hot dog on a bun. Take away the bun it's still a hot dog.

Case can be made for a hot dog being a sandwich. pretty easily at that.
If you roll up a piece of bolgna and put it on a bun, could you call it a hot dog since its basically the same thing? Hooves, claws and scraps?
