Quote:Which was strange because he had the most un-butterfinger-y hands in college.
It's a concentration/multitasking thing, not an issue with his catching ability.  Trying to learn a completely new playbook with way more routes and adjusting to the speed of the game is not easy.  I expect this to not be an issue next year.

Oh yeah, I absolutely agree. He's thinking about all kinds of new things. I think he'll be really good. I wouldn't have thought better than the Allen's, but whatever.
There are some in the Jaguar's building that tell the media they believe that Gus will lead them to the AFC South title and into the playoffs.

I'm not sure quoting the maintenance staff really counts as a source.

Quote:Why is it I get the sense some here actually want Mark Long to be wrong about this?

Yeah, I'm getting that sense too. When the masses don't like a guy they really won't accept anything. Even if he's just a messenger.

I really doubt anyone wants him to be wrong. Most just disagree.
Greene = Danny Amendola

Optimism about a Dave Caldwell draft pick no less. TreeSmash!
Why not?

Didn't he lead the team in targets when he got injured?

More in a general sense. Not really this instance, that's up for debate (but I'd rather not). But for example, if Draft Scout 1 (Let's call him Bob) said "I think JJ Watt and Blaine Gabbert will be All-Pro players" in 2011. Then Bob says in 2015 "I think Joey Bosa will be the best Edge rusher from this class" there's always someone who says "isn't this the same guy who said Blaine would be good?" We have all seen it, but we have all been right and wrong about a prospect. Sometimes I agree with Oesher, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I can't stand Stephen A. Smith, sometimes I think he's preaching. I'm just saying, when people hate a guy, they really aren't forgiving. I don't think Mark Long's sources are right, I disagree. But I also don't doubt his sources believe it or are credible. You know what I mean?

Yup, don't think he will be better than Robinson or Hurns, but I believe he will win us ball games. Not in that "7 catch, 127 yards" way. But in that way that he can be the most reliable target in crunch time including important, critical 3rd downs. The guy is a winner and a worker. Love Greene! If he's better or even close to our other receivers, I'm the happiest guy in Jax
Those guys have grown into their positions, he'll have the same opportunity I'm sure.

It would be great to have a deep and capable receiving corps.

I just remember him dropping a ton of balls... Maybe markulous and minorcan are right, that he is having a hard time processing and adjusting to the NFL game. Let's hope so.

Based on what? We as fans haven't seen enough of him to make that determination.

Writing the report off before giving Greene a fair chance to prove one way or the other is akin to wanting the report to be wrong.
I had high hopes for Greene. Then he developed a strange case of the dropsies early in the season

optimism seems to be an awefully big word, for such a brute

"People in the Jaguars building" is so vague it could mean anything.  They could of talked to the janitor or crazy Joe who sleeps in the lunch room.  I don't think anyone could say they have seen enough.  He seemed to make a difference is his limited action.
Well, I don't think its far fetched that Greene CAN be better than Hurns. If you think about it, both have similar knocks and strengths. Neither have great physical traits. Both are good route runners and know how to get open. So far, Hurns has shown a better knack at making big plays and even breaking tackles to pick up YAC. But Greene has a better rep for being sure handed (even if he had drops early in the season).

But ARob just has the physical traits that Hurns and Greene can never have.

More importantly, rather than what those inside the organization think of Greene, what I really want to know is their opinion on the tiger.

People in the Jags building

Based on what? Not sure how anyone would logically make this prediction.
