Quote:Objectively, Greene has the tools to be the next Welker imo. Who knows if he lives up to it or not? We still need a True Z style WR and greene doesn't posses that toolset.

Edit: Just to further explain, He doesn't have elite height nor speed to be able be a true Z in the same fashion as Green, Bryant, Johnson, etc.

Pre Tom Brady or Post Tom Brady?
Quote:Well, I don't think its far fetched that Greene CAN be better than Hurns. If you think about it, both have similar knocks and strengths. Neither have great physical traits. Both are good route runners and know how to get open. So far, Hurns has shown a better knack at making big plays and even breaking tackles to pick up YAC. But Greene has a better rep for being sure handed (even if he had drops early in the season).

But ARob just has the physical traits that Hurns and Greene can never have.

More importantly, rather than what those inside the organization think of Greene, what I really want to know is their opinion on the tiger.

I've noticed the same in Greene that he seems to have a penchant for picking up big YAC. Now this is a bit of speculation because I'd have to re-watch the plays to know, but I'm wondering if maybe he was looking to run too early and maybe that's why he started dropping a few passes. At any rate, he sort of had that Keenan McCardell ability to get open and make catches in the middle of the field, Back in the 49ers hey dey they had this guy named John Taylor that I'm reminded of with Greene.

Quote:He can be what we expected Lee to be but not better than ARob

Considering their draft position, we expected Lee to be better than ARob.

I really think Allen Hurns is the best if not a tie with Allen Robinson and R. Greene isn't even able to play until week 11 (i had read somewhere).

I'll take the optimism!

Quote:Oh my...

Well that would be nice. He'll need to get rid of the butterfingers

he showed his first couple weeks tho

Hurns had that problem last year too.
Not only hurns but Arob was called bad by many people on the board in the preseason and first game when he was dropping some balls.
Quote:optimism seems to be an awefully big word, for such a brute

But not as difficult as "awfully" it would appear.

This blows my mind.

Dude was and clearly is our best WR. Who do you think Revis is going to guard in this game? Hurns or ARob? It's almost certainly ARob.

Yeah of course Arob is the better receiver. I find it crazy that people were so against him in the preseason because of a few drops.

It was not that many. But those that did are the same mooks that complain about everything.

Welcome to the jaguars message board.
I have high hopes for Greene.  Did he really have that many drops or were they just memorable?  I do remember one drop where he tried to run before securing the catch - that's more of a rookie thing.  And he did have drops back-to-back but I think that was because of the injured thumb.

Quote:hurns is a superstar
I agree this will happen.  He's not there yet, but he is going to be "that" guy for Jacksonville.

He had one big drop against Carolina in week one that would have been a TD. I think we ended up getting a FG that drive. And then against New England he had two on one drive but that was after he was injured and did not come back after that.

At FSU, he was a very reliable target, So those may have been aberrations.

Some people refuse to remember that he was dealing with a severe hand injury that sent him to IR when he had those bad drops. They rather just remember the negative things.

I don't think he played against NE.

Yeah, he got hurt in the Miami game.

Oh ok. Then the two drops were against Miami I guess. I remember they were nearly on consecutive plays.

This, his hands were way to reliable in college to consider the few drops as anything other than what they were. It's hard to catch when you cant close your hand.
