Quote:Interestingly, he added: "But, it's like, what is your motives right now? Is it championships or is it the place where you can build your legacy to do things after football? It's like this is the brand I want to build. Is this where I want to be in four years? Can I do that in Jacksonville? Probably not."

Um, can we talk about this for a sec?
I dont know what team even fits this description besides the Rams and Giants/Jets, maybe the Raiders and Texans too.

Yeah so let's put this topic to the side. He clearly doesn't want to come here
I don't want him even more than he doesn't want to come here.
Quote:Would be a terrible move. Bennett has got getting paid and going on vacation written all over him. Add the superbowl title and its all hes looking for.

Agreed
Quote:I'm just saying that both Malik and Martellus made it clear that they were going to sign with whichever team offered them the biggest deal and that doesn't always mean the player is going to mail it in afterwards.

There's a precedent here for Bennett though. He's the prototype of an ultra talented player who brings it "sometimes", then disappears. Malik was a mid rounder who worked hard, got himself a ring, and got paid.

Bennett has bounced around from Dallas to NYG to Chicago before hitting it big playing with Brady to get his numbers up again and his name back into relevance. In each of those stops (Dallas, NYG, Chicago), he flashed enough talent but never consistency.

Not sure why anyone, especially if the Jaguars who have a young inaccurate QB looking to run the ball more would even think about spending big money on Marty B.
Quote:Why would he want to play here? His personality doesn't fit us. He will throw Blake under the bus very fast

Both Martellus Bennett and his brother are quality players on the field.  But under no circumstance would I want them on my team.
Marty Bennett was Mr. September in Chicago.

Great fantasy TE to start the season...

I don't think his season was anything spectacular with Brady...

He certainly isn't a TE I'd pay big money to anyhow....

pass on anyone who verbally communicates they don't really wanna be here anyway.

Quote:Agreed
I would much rather have Ryan Griffin. I think he would be a good addition to this team.

Looks like they are interested in Vikings TE Rhett Ellison.  Not sure what they see in him, must be his blocking. Only 57 yards receiving last season. They say he's a fullback hybrid but he's 6'5" and 250.

<p class="">Heard <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/hashtag/Jaguars?src=hash'>#Jaguars</a> were interested in Ellison, too. Could be looking at $5M/year. <a class="" href='https://t.co/XI3Lvx1lqF' title="https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/839896664743763968">https://twitter.com/MikeGarafolo/status/839896664743763968 …</a>

Versatile blue collar type of player.  Not flashy but a good piece to have to overall puzzle.
Any word on Bennett?
Please no

I'm still seeing that it's between the Jaguars, 49ers and Raiders ... although the Raiders appear to be the front runner. We'll see tho. My fingers are crossed.

A big no to Bennett, dont waste the cap space.
This TE draft class is too good to throw money at Bennett.

My thoughts too.
The tweet I saw last night said he was going to to take his time cause he has gotten serious inquiries from over a dozen teams. Raiders and Jags appeared to be the most serious, though.
