Quote:Is Yeldon a beast in cold weather, adverse conditions, a mudder? Unknown. However, doubtful because he is thin and not very good at breaking tackles.
It's a passing league people, backs have to hold leads, to take over when it's crappy and everyone knows a run is coming.
They have to break tackles consistently, reverse on a dime when a hole is blocked, and have durability after some big hits. They have to catch dump offs like faulk and make two men miss. I have never seen Yeldon do that. I haven't seen him be a passing threat.
So far he has looked pretty average to good, against some really bad teams.
So a lot of unknown questions about Yeldon, but be impressed because he got 100 yards against the bills. Cake and Ice cream too?
When he gets his next 1.4 YPC game you all come back and talk about how special he is.
If we are satisfied with a back that plays well against bad teams, well he might be able to do that, but is he a pro bowl caliber back who is a piece that takes us to the next level by being a weapon everyone has to respect?
That has not been shown to me to date.
War Eagle, dude.
Really enjoy watching Yeldon play. He clearly makes us a better team. His patience is really good already. Reminds me of Leveon Bell. I was also skeptical at first, but man is he showing up!
Quote:Not to mention he's managing this behind an admittedly terrible Run-Blocking O-Line.
I did not like the pick at all when it happened.
I like it quite a bit now.
I liked it before this game, too. Kid's good.
I loved the pick. I hated the Fowler pick....now I love it
I'm still trying to figure out which player it is that comes to mind when I watch Yeldon. At first I thought it was Terrell Davis, but Davis never had or just never used the jump cut like Yeldon does. He's got the patience of Ahman Green when it comes to picking and choosing, but I don't think he has Green's power. The thing that sets him apart is his balance seeing as how he never seems to lose his feet when working through 'trash'.
Roger Craig maybe?
Anyone have other players in mind who T.J. reminds you of?
Quote:A beast for years to come? Killing me. We played the bills.
Excellent point. We did, in fact, play the Bills who are currently the #5 team against the run.

I do see the Le'Veon Bell comparisons, for sure, after watching both the Steelers and Jags on Sunday.

I don't watch a lot of Le'veon Bell since, you know, I'm not a
traitor or anything. Enjoy your Primanti Bros. sammich you Black and Yellow Benedict Arnold!

Eddie Lacy, if we're going to be perfectly honest about it.
If you want to dig a little deeper into the past, he's got some James Stewart in him, although he appears to be more talented than Stewart was.

Lacy is more of a bruiser no?

Gotta watch your fantasy football players. The 'clicker' gets a real workout this year with the free NFL package.

A little more so, yes, but he's got some of Yeldon's wiggle, just like Yeldon's got some of his power. The fact that they both played in Saban's offense in Alabama probably isn't influencing me at all. Probably. lol
I actually like the Stewart comparison.
Quote:I knew he would be a good one. Saban builds them right. Really impressed with his ball security.
Saban recruits better than anyone maybe ever. If he don't have all the 5 stars he loses to UAB and Louisana Monroe.....look it up

Billy Madison, where are you? You are severely needed for this post!!!
I don't know if he is special, but he is certainly effective and has special feet. I think he is doing fairly well considering the oline. He was finally given room to run and he actually played well. The TD run was definitely something that jumped out. Showed great patience and vision.
Quote:Proven like Gerhart and Pierce? To be fair, Pierce is clearly suffering from brain trauma, but we need DRob because we have nobody to spell for Yeldon
No, like someone who has been a starter before.
Quote:A beast for years to come? Killing me. We played the bills.
Uhhhhh do you know the Bills are one of the best defenses in the NFL?
Quote:I said I'd consider it. Elliott looks like an elite talent, and Dave has struggled mightily early in the draft. We almost lost yesterday because Gerfart. If Yeldon goes down then we're back to passing 50+ times a game and averaging 30 yards rushing with 25 being from Bortles.
Worked pretty good yesterday for NE

I actually thought of Stewart, but Yeldon has more moves / "wiggle" than he did.

Okay, ya got me there.

You're too busy wrestling cars anyway.
...but you could have had Gurley

The Bills were the #3 ranked rushing defense going into yesterdays game.
