Quote:Miami has Never had the facilities and still were one of the big boys on the field. They don't even have their own stadium let alone decent practice facilities.

Well, when you have one guy putting up $2 Million dollars to over 70 players over an eight year span, that kind of tilts things in your favor a bit doesn't it?

It's better to just ignore that question.  She's lived in different places....I think.

I never said it didn't.
yeah, Deacon, those dinner meals, rides on yachts, money for abortion, and hundred dollars here and there are just soooo awful

maybe they should have run an academic scandal like FSU...that's minute

I never once attributed a moral value on the gifts that the players received. I'm simply stating that there were other ways that Miami made up for their facilities when you compared them to other schools around the country.

Don't you think that is part of the reason they have always had a hard time keeping coaches?

Players yes, coaches I don't think so much. They just want the ability to go out and get the studs. So in a round about way that does affect coaches I guess, but at face value, no.

No. they had a "hard time" keeping coaches because they were winning titles and the coaches were jumping to the NFL

SEE: Erickson, Dennis, Johnson, Jimmy

Schnelly jumped to the USFL to be an owner

Lol @ the notion of them having a hard time keeping coaches

just lol

Yeah, but a shiny new practice facility with a spiffy locker room sure does make that a little bit easier. As a fan of a team that just installed this very thing, I can attest that when it comes to recruiting it isn't everything, but it does help.

Not sure why you seem to be in such denial of reality. Butch Davis left Miami too. He left at a time when he had one of the greatest rosters in college football history. Why did he leave? Couldn't have been money, right? I mean, lol just lol right?
No, Butch left because his desire was to coach in the NFL.

Why did Saban leave LSU to go to the Dolphins?

You're going to tell me that LSU was cash strapped?

stop it man

Great coaches mostly all want to go to the NFL

Saban made more with the Dolphins ten years ago than Les Miles makes at LSU right now.

are you going to answer the question that I posed or are you going to deflect?

Why did Saban leave to go to the NFL?

Was LSU cash strapped and couldn't keep a coach?

I think money sure has something to do with it but I think it's pretty tough for these guys to turn down the NFL when the league comes calling. I think every coach that has major success in the college ranks believes and wants to see if he can make it in the highest ranks of the football. When a program like Miami was so talented and successful, I think it's more likely that coaches simply believed they could make it in the NFL and were willing to make the leap off the success of the studs that were coming out of the U. Make no mistake about it though, money always plays a role in the decision.

That's just my opinion, I have no ties to the state of Florida and am not a fan of any Florida team. I would guess that people's alliances on this website may cloud their thinking just a tad.

The fact that Miami hired Al Golden (and kept him so long) tells you all you need to know about where that position currently sits.
