The man needs help. Right now he's got Tweedledum and Tweedledee manning the interior (Marks' return should help), and a past-his-prime vet who's playing with his head elsewhere and has shown virtually nothing this year as his bookend. Odrick is, imo, the best player on our current DL. Once Marks gets back up to speed, that'll change. Once DFJ returns next year, things will be as they should.

If he has to line up next to a pro bowl caliber player to be effective, then he isn't worth the signing.

 

Any average player can be effective in that situation.

"We didn't sign the guy to a huge contract for him to make plays!"

He doesn't need Pro Bowlers next to him, but virtually every player needs average joes next to him to help out. They can't all be Reggie White. Miller and Alualu are doing nothing to help Odrick out.

You can make the very same argument for the guys playing next to him that his lack of play is holding them back.

 

Were there magically better players around him in the Miami game when he showed up to play?

 

The bottom line is that he should be going out there and showing more than he has been regardless of who's around him.

 

He has shown when motivated he can play. There is no excuse for the mediocrity he has shown the other 4 games.

So now that Bortles looks to be the guy, Odrick is the new guy to whine about?

Especially the defensive line. Odrick has probably been the best player on that DL. Let's face it, as a group these guys stink. I'm seriously hoping things turn around for them with Sen'Derrick back.
