Quote:HE WENT 9-7 LAST YEAR! Gus has won 8 games in 3 years! You can't be this incompetent but that seems to be the case, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
I forgot... record speaks everything...
Mother truckin Switzer won a Super Bowl...
doesn't mean he didn't do it with Jimmy's team....
Quote:It was a 7th round pick! Hahaha
I would have rather kept it....
tbh
Quote:So, do you have a point? He could've gotten better talent from FA without giving up squat.
It was 7 round pick! The Steelers traded a 6th rounder for Josh Scobee, who they've since cut, should Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert be on the hot seat?!
I'll be honest I thought you were full on trolling with this post.

So taking a team from 2 wins to 9 wins means nothing, with the same roster, got it.
Quote:Another clueless post, the Texans went 2-14 the year before, do you not recall them drafting 1st in the 2014 draft. He took a 2-14 team and turned them into a 9-7 team.
Aaaand, now they're 1 - 4 and the talent he had is disappearing.
Quote:He'd be worth kicking the tires on, but the track record of former New England assistants in the NFL is dismal. His work at Penn State was great considering what the school was saddled with, but his work in Houston hasn't done much to distinguish him from the pack.
I doubt he's fired in the first place. The Texans gave him a big contract that they'd have to eat if they fired him, and Bob McNair has shown himself to be a patient owner. Barring a Bradley-level collapse, I don't think his job would be at risk until the end of the 2016 season at the earliest.
I respectively disagree, he took a team that won 2 games in 2013 and found a way to win 9 the next year, without the help of the 1st overall pick in the draft, all while starting Ryan Fitzpatrick and Case Keenum.

Nice, you just gave 2 examples of failed trades. Still waiting for your point. You don't give away picks for inferior talent than is available for nothing. How does this not make sense to you?
Hoyer beat him. Cost nothing. Fail.

They're 1-4 because they have a terrible defense and the worst QB situation in football.
I think I have concluded from this thread that Bill O'Brien wouldn't make a good GM.
9 wins. And they beat...
The Jaguars twice
The Titans twice
Redskins, Raiders, Bills, Browns, Ravens.

The point is you're trying to make a big deal out of something that isn't a big deal, trading a 7th round pick for a QB (with upside) who's familiar with your system isn't a big deal, because it's a 7th round pick. The Cowboys just traded for Matt frickin Cassel, is that a dumb move as well?

Matt frickin Cassel >>>>>Ryan Mallett

Hahaha, that's what they're trying to turn it into, blaming Bill O'Brien for the the Texans incompetent drafts, that has nothing to do with Bill O and everything to do with Rick Smith.
Quote:Matt frickin Cassel >>>>>Ryan Mallett
They both suck so I'm not understanding your point, and it's because you have no point.

It's the NFL, a win is win regardless of the opponent. The Texans were a bottom feeder the year before under Gary Kubiak, winning two games. Yet you're trying to spin a 7 win improvement a mere year later as not
impressive because of the teams they beat, if the Jaguars won 9 games people would be going crazy, get out of here with that lame argument.

First off, Kubiak was fired because there was almost universal agreement that the 2013 Texans team had the talent to be much better than the 2-11 mark they had achieved when he was terminated in-season.
Second, O'Brien played a cakewalk of a schedule last year, and with basically the same roster as Kubiak--one that was far better than its 2013 finish. It says something for O'Brien, yeah, but it doesn't make him the guy who'll finally break the Belichick curse. The Texans regressed badly this year under his watch.
