Quote:They both suck so I'm not understanding your point, and it's because you have no point.
It was a mistake by O'Brien and company to give up a 7th rounder for Mallett.  How you don't understand that's what i'm saying is beyond me.

It's a seventh-round pick. Virtually zero-risk. If someone told me that I could trade a seven for a quarterback who I thought could become my starter, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat. Even if he fails to make the team out of training camp, odds are I'd have cut that seventh-round pick anyway.
Quote:First off, Kubiak was fired because there was almost universal agreement that the 2013 Texans team had the talent to be much better than the 2-11 mark they had achieved when he was terminated in-season.

Second, O'Brien played a cakewalk of a schedule last year, and with basically the same roster as Kubiak--one that was far better than its 2013 finish. It says something for O'Brien, yeah, but it doesn't make him the guy who'll finally break the Belichick curse. The Texans regressed badly this year under his watch.

I never bought into "the Texans have so much talent on their roster" argument, I totally disagree. Besides JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins there isn't a lot of talent on the Texans roster, they've drafted poor for almost a decade now look, look at the 2013 (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/articl...96799341b3) and the 2014 (http://www.battleredblog.com/2014/5/10/5...xans-picks) Texans draft and tell me where all this "talent" is at.

O'Brien had years to figure out his value at NE, and obviously failed in his evaluation.

It's a 7th round pick! My god are you dense

His "value" is a 7th round pick, the last round in the frickin draft, your ability to not comprehend this is shocking.

You call me dense because i value having a 7th round pick vs. burning it on a bum?  Ask any GM in the league if they want to give away 7th round picks.

I'm dense because i don't agree with you?  Ok.

The move is the same as drafting Mallett in the seventh round. It's virtually all upside, and again, all that was lost was a seventh-round pick. Mallett lasting one year with the team more than recoups that value.

That is NOT his value.  Hoyer, a FA, beat him out.  It was a failed trade.  No team in the league would give up a 7th round pick for Mallett today.  You think i have the comprehension issue?

Yes I'm calling you dense because you're inexplicably making a big deal out of the Texans giving up a 7th round pick for a QB (with upside) that is familiar with Bill O'Brien's system.
I give up. You guys like Mallett, i like the pick more.

I couldn't stand watching him speak on hard knocks. He's like a kid that has to curse a lot to look cool.

I'm not making a big deal out of it, you're arguing the point ad naseum with me.  I'm just saying it was a mistake.

I don't think, I know you have a comprehension issue.Teams trade for project and veteran QB's, it happens in this league. The Rams traded for Case Keenum earlier this year, surprise surprise it was 7th round pick!

I realize it happens, i'm saying it was a mistake.  The end.

So what? Teams make "mistakes" all the time, the Jaguars made a "mistake" by drafting Ace Sanders in the 4th round, where is your pitchfork? I'd rather my GM/Coach to make a mistake with a 7th round pick, those picks have very little value.
Quote:I give up. You guys like Mallett, i like the pick more.
I don't really like Mallett at all, but if a team calls you and says that the quarterback you happen to think could become a starter is available to you for a seventh-round pick, you take that deal.
7th round picks usually don't amount to anything. Trading a 7th for Mallet when your QB situation was up in arms was a good deal.

Not no, but hell no.

That's all i was saying before you got your panties in a wad.
