Quote:Still not buying him yet. I've watched the games and seen him without just looking at his numbers. He put up 4 td's against a defense that let a rookie on his 1st day in the league put up the same amount. Wasn't impressed in the Carolina game or the New England one. The Colts one he didn't standout either. Only thing I can say is he looks way better than last year. The gushing is funny from the board. Looking for a diamond in a toliet full of [BAD WORD REMOVED] that's the Jaguars.
I don't get it. We have a QB who is making his strides his sophmore year and people are excited that we may finally have a franchise QB and you are calling out fans for "gushing"? So he is way better then last year which means it's possible that he can keep on improving and that isn't reason to be optimistic when we haven't had a franchise QB since Brunell? There is enough to gripe about with this team. It just seems some are really reaching.

Laying a duck egg < 4 TD performance, as a Jaguar.
You may need to get your eyes checked though, because aside from a couple of plays this season, Bortles has almost singlehandedly kept drives alive by extending plays.
Remember, this is a 2nd year QB who has play a little over a season's worth of games as a starter. We expect him to make a mistake here and there because guess what? Even ELITE QB's make mistakes.
Now that's a revelation...

I'm trying to figure out why I clicked on this thread.
He good. I finally have reason to buy a $90 jersey and not be afraid he will be a bust and be ashamed of wearing it.

Hell. I'm trying to figure out why I stop to read the swill in this forum.

After suffering though Gabbert and Henne Jags fans are allowed some enthusiasm.

you are just mad that we didn't take Khalil freaking Mack instead of bortles. Do us a favor and please get over yourself because I am excited about my QB progress for this franchise.

He lives a very miserable life.

Either he's a troll, or we just really need to win some games. This franchise is beating a lot of us into submission.
Bortles really is a diamond in a pile of crap. He's actually progressing way more than I expected him to, and he will probably set franchise individual passing stats every season. I'm excited that we atleast have a potential franchise qb, finally

Can't lie those numbers would be encouraging. Hopefully their not just empty stats with no w's attached. Il be rooting for him to keep climbing the ladder.
Quote:I mentioned in the blaine bortles thread that bortles over throws consistently. People made excuses saying he was throwing the ball away. Please! This guy is mediocre at best. I'm just waiting for him to throw another pick six and watch all the apologist make more excuses.

QB: Blake Bortles
RB: T.J. Yeldon
WR: Allen Robinson
WR: Allen Hurns
TE: Julius Thomas
LG: A.J. Cann
OC: Stefen Wisniewski/Luke Bowanko (depends on if we resign Wis)
RG: Brandon Linder
That is a heck of an offensive core. All young, talented guys. Now, if Luke Joeckel could ever come along, this has the makings for a special group.
With Bortles putting up good numbers...it still baffles me that we are losing. Still..Bortles is showing good progress. I think he is here to stay. He reverts back to rookie year mechanics sometimes like the pick against Tampa. .but still, I love seeing him heave it down field. When he drops back and chucks it sp far thay the camera has to quickly pan out to catch up, that's exciting and something we haven't seen with Henne/Gabbs

Where is Tampa's defense ranked currently? Did you bother to look that up before posting this moronic bilge, or are you just dismissing them because of their record? They have a top 10 rated defense right now.
As far as gushing goes, I'm not seeing it. I'm seeing positive analysis by people who actually have a clue, Warner being one of them. It's sad when some of our fans are too ingrained in their own ignorance and bias to recognize the good things happening with this team.

With Bortles improving, it's coming down to critical mistakes elsewhere that are hurting us in games. Those will be cleaned up, and when that happens, we will see the wins start to add up.
Every QB throws picks. It's how he responds that matters. Nobody would complain about a one pick game when he throws four TDs. He still has areas he needs to improve upon, but Jag fans SHOULD be encouraged about where he is in his progression right now.

Well to be fair, Bortles was clobbered by Jenkins, thanks to a missed block by Gerhart.
Quote:Or you were just called out for saying something stupid. He is mediocre at best. What ladder can mediocre at best climb?
I can't hope to be wrong? Don't be stupid. I want what everyone else wants. I just don't pee on my self about it like y'all do. But he wasnt calling me out he was following me around with quotes loaded since who know how long waiting to throw them out there. Pretty creepy. And to top it off it means nothing I stand by what I say. He's mediocre at best right now. A few nice statistical games means he padded stats against two bad teams but couldn't put the team on his shoulders and win. I'm with phaze on this subject right now. Against the colts he couldn't do better than one td? Winners get more than that. Then he basically matched stats like Mariota a rookie did against a poor bucs team. Do it early and often then that would be something to be giddy about and I'll have no qualms celebrating it.

Wait a sec you guys are so dumb. Can he at least get the numbers in question first? You idiots act as if it's already happened. Besides numbers mean nothing if he can't win. But to be fair Gus may be holding him back. But I guess we'll never know with all the Gus love around here.

How the heck I'm I dancing? Please tell me. I said the numbers that a poster was projecting would be encouraging. How the hell is that dancing? Seriously you guys really need to take a step back did bortles make the probowl already and I missed it? Regardless what you bums think if he improves and wins I'll gladly celebrate him. But stats are only a part of it and so far much of his stats are empty.
