I can admit, I was wrong week 1, labeling Blake a bust. He's played outstanding and that's definitely a good sign.

However, don't be too convinced. He isn't the most consistent guy

Lets appreciate him for what he his and not hold him to too high expectations just yet...

remember what team this is....

Quote:He's doing great. Best QB in the division.

THE HEX OF JOHN
I remember laughing when Boselli predicted Bortles to throw 32 touchdowns this season.

With the continued emergence of the Allens, Julius' integration into the offense, and the game slowing down for Bortles, he might be right.

He will gain consistency with additional experience.

He has started, what, all of 18 games?

I am absolutely thrilled with his development thus far, without much in the way of contribution from Julius Thomas, Lee, a running game, or a good offensive line.

Name the last Jaguars QB to throw 4 TDs in a game.

Name the last Jaguars' QB to have a 10-4 TD-INT ratio or better at any point.  I think Garrard back in 2007 is the last one, and he didn't attack downfield anywhere near as much as Bortles, in part because his receivers couldn't get down field consistently, in part because he was inclined to throw underneath either by coaching or natural inclination.
FULL CONSISTENCY!

I know that he is in no way a relevant QB, but didn't Henne toss 4 against Houston back in 2012? In Blackmon's first real breakout? god, I wish he wasn't such a screw up, could've been better than Dez IMO

But you and I both know that was a complete aberration on Henne's part.  he had several seasons as a starter when he had that game.  Bortles starts this year look better than any of Henne's starts as a Jaguar.  Even though neither Hurns nor Robinson is as innately talented as Blackmon, you know Bortles is flat out better than Henne.
Quote:Bortles was basically a game manager in college most games.

I watched all of bortles games in college. He was not a game manager at all. It was actually very reminiscent of how this year is going. More deep balls and shots downfield. UCF's offense was prostyle to some degree with a lot more pounding the ball and taking shots occasionally, instead of the typical college system with a lot of read option and high flying offenses. Bortles had the potential to be able to put up a lot better stats in college that was just not what George O'leary wanted. He is an old school coach.
whenever i watched UCF it looks like Bortles was managing the game. w/e.

So you watched most of UCF's games? Fascinating.
Quote:Blake is having a much improved year than last season, he has 87.2 Rating, 63.7 QBR, (last season was 25 QBR, and 69 Rating), he has 1,299 yards (on pace for same as last years), 10TDS! (only had 11 total last year), 4INTs (had 17 last season), and 1 fumble.

What? He's on pace for ~4,157 yds which is ~1,249 yards more than he had last year.

At least provide some analysis lol.
I don't know guys, clf said Bortles is a right-handed Tebow. I think we should cut him and get the real deal.

Sophomore QB isn't the most consistent guy? Wow, really? Andrew Luck is in year 4 (I think) and is still having consistency problems. No young QB is going to tear it up every week.

Bortles has shown huge strides from year 1 and that's the most promising thing about him, we all had hopes Gabbert would do the same thing in his second year but he just stagnated - Bortles is getting better every single week.

I can just see a few posters on here waiting for Bortles next bad game (we all know he'll have one, all QB's not named Brady do) so they can start calling him a bust and BBINT. It's like they don't see that we have a very good young player on our hands - the same group who called ARob "Dropinson" after a couple of drops IN PRE-SEASON.

If Bortles keeps this up the jaguars will win the division next year. The only thing that would stop that is the jags are unable to pick up key defensive improvements and more depth to the offensive line.

I mean hell the guy was sacked six times and still had a monster game.

No way did Blackmon have Dez like ability. In fact what was he better at than Allen Hurns?

He absolutely did have Dez like ability. Was better than him at OSU and his rookie numbers were also better. Maybe not quite as big and fast as Dez but just as physical and had better hands.

He was also better than Hurns at every aspect of the position besides having a functioning brain off the field. There is a reason JB was a 2x All American and a top 5 pick whereas Hurns wasn't drafted.

...and the fumble was not lost. It's the lost fumble's like Mariota's game losing fumble that cost the Titans a win a few weeks ago that really hurt.

How many Qbs in their 2nd year are, he's still very young he needs more weapons & better Oline protection to truly shine & develop into the franchise QB you can rely on for years.

In regards to Corey Grant's fumble, which I know you weren't refering to but to address it, look at the play as he was catching the ball (meaning before it was thrown) he had two TB defensive guys starting to hit him... he's a rookie RB that didnt get a lot of practice time on that play.. i mean sure Corey shouldve caught it and simply landed on it you cant turn those over... but people need to give the undrafted rookie a bit of slack it was a bad play call & bad choice for Blake to toss it at that point to him...
