Quote:"Next year"

Next year will be the same sorry excuse. We'll get some significant injuries and probably another terrible coach.
It's not an excuse, I'm talking about another coach next year having better talent on the defensive line. Please read the entire post instead of homing in on buzz words.
He wasn't the answer when he needed to be.
On the pick, Gerhart blew his block.

Next year triggers me. Really makes me go crazy.
Bortles missed 2 glaring opportunities on the same drive for a TD. Even a 1st down going the other direction where he threw the INT. He's got lots to learn but he's more promising than what we've had prior.

Well this year is done, so why not look forward to the weakest spot on the roster right now? Clemons is old, Alualu is bad, Jones is a backup etc. These guys shouldn't be playing.

Caldwell has given the roster a lot of talent and he has got talent for the D-line (2 injured players I know) but that should be the focus for the next coach.

The guy went 23/33 for four scores and 300 yards, and an INT that wasn't even entirely his fault.

What more do you want from a guy less than halfway through his second season?

70% comp, 303 yds, 4 TD...ah yeah he was not the problem today.

Quote:Bortles played good, but I would rather have a win. Stats and heart mean nothing if you cant win games. Fire Gus.

When the team is going nowhere this year, I'll take the emergence of a franchise QB.

Not a flawless game but he did some nice things.
Bortles, ARob, Hurns, and Yeldon have solid days and Bucs run wild on us. Unbelievable how Gus keeps finding ways to lose
I dont know that I think Bortles will become an upper echelon QB.  He has the talent, it'll just depend on if he cuts down on mistakes and begins to consistently make the right read.  At worst though, I think Bortles is good enough to take a team to the playoffs.

Oh go away. Did he give up 183 yards rushing? Did he give up big punt returns?

Yeah but he was locked in on Lewis for some reason when ARob was wide open in the middle of the field. He could have released the ball a half second earlier if he was looking in the right spot, and the whiffed block wouldn't have affected his throw.

He's already shown to be cutting down on his mistakes. He's thrown 10TD's and 4INT's this year. Last year he threw 11TD's and 17INT's. Night and day.

That happens to every QB. They miss guys open sometimes. Easy to sit on our couch and see these open receivers without 300 pound lineman charging at us.
Good QB that makes mistakes like a sophomore QB usually makes.

Needs a solid contributor in the running game. TJ Yeldon needs Denard Robinson to come back to change the tempo on the ground.

Having a possible QB in place will be critical when we come to picking the next HC. The best HC candidates won't even consider coaching a team if they don't believe in the QB.

Bortles will be fine.

Gus gotta go though. Blake has shown that changing the playbook doesn't effect him. 5 games into this playbook and he's doing better. Most people don't want change because they're afraid it will stunt blakes development.
I'm not saying he had a bad game. I just think we left some yards on the field and held on to the ball to long. 300 TDs and 4 TDs is legit. Still learning.

But three and outs when you need to march down the field is hard to watch.

Dude. 38 points from the Bucs. That's where we lost.
