So you can use one of those picks for a college kid who may or may not turn out to be good, or you can use them on a young, proven player who you know is good. Not sure what the hangup is.

Its not like we're going to use that 2nd round pick on anyone worthy. You want Alshon Jeffery or another Marqise Lee/Yeldon? Now I like those players that we picked, but they aren't going to be productive like Alshon is. At least not this soon in their careers...
Both valid points. And if Dave decided to go for it I definitely wouldn't be upset. Just saying idk if I could pull the trigger there, then again I'm not a GM so I could be way off on my gut feeling.
If they were giving up their 2016 1st and Cutler for Bortles, would you take it?

A 2nd for a playmaker WR. Id do it anyday

Bingo. And with the way we been drafting, we would probably miss on the pick.

If he doesn't like it here he would leave in free agency, he has to come here. If he is traded he has more motivation to go to another team that has good QB play, right?

Any thoughts on Bostic? Seems like a pretty decent linebacker with good range.
Lots of hype in Chicago that he was "the next Brian Urlacher", but his play never matched up with his physical skills.

The Bears would jump at this if they are sane. The Jaguars wouldn't make the trade. Jay Cutler isn't a solution and the Jags would be looking for yet another QB of the future.

I would probably do it without Cutler. Henne = Cutler at this point. Just throw in an extra 3rd or so. Bortles will be on the outs anyway if a new coaching staff and OC are on its way. 3 OC's in 3 years pretty much ruins all potential for a young QB.
I wouldn't mind taking a look at Vereen either. He's a young FS with more potential than Josh Evans or Craig Loston.
Allen Robinson is on his way to providing everything Jeffrey provides now IMO. I'd pass.
Willie Young for a 6/7 please.

I agree with you on the first round draft pick, I could be convinced move a second rounder for Jeffery because of his talent level. A third rounder or any combination of that and late round picks, I'd easily do. He is also a free agent at season's end, so you're essentially giving up draft picks for the privilege to pay him. Having said all that Jeffery is apparently untouchable, so he's not getting moved.

Bortles has a decent shot to develop into a great QB so I'm not about to include him in any deal. As for Cutler, he's an average qb in this league who could come in and perform if Bortles starts to slump. Cutler still has a strong arm and is much better than Henne. I don't like the idea of losing a pick for Cutler, but it's ludicrous to think he's merely Henne's equal.

I believe the Bears just cut Vereen and replaced him with Prosinski.

Personally I'd jump on Alshon for our 2nd round pick... not for our early 1st tho.
