Right, but with that said he also beat some teams he never should have beat. We were beating the Colts occasionally when we really should never have had a shot in the world.
That roster was complete garbage. The receivers on those teams wouldn't have been on any other team in the NFL. It was disgusting.

That was Del Rio's best strength. His teams never backed down from competition. Even that playoff game against the undefeated Patriots. They were in it in the 4th quarter. I remember them winning games at Philadelphia, Indy, Denver, Miami, Dallas where people did not give them much of a chance. 2006 was probably the best example. They blow out the Colts at home and then turn around and lose to the Titans, costing themselves a playoff spot.

They also played down to competition as well costing them playoff spots. Besides the Titans game, the 2010 season comes to mind where all we had to do is win one out of the final 3 games for a wildcard spot and we couldn't do it.

I feel like these two items are what points out Del Rio's limitations as a Head Coach
at that time in his career. He just didn't seem to know how to connect with players on a consistent basis, nor was he good at setting up a consistent culture. Now, is he better at those things now? Only time will tell. I kind of hope that he has gotten better because better football is good for everyone involved, but we will have to wait and see.

The worst one I went to was Washington in 2010. It was the day after Christmas and about 35 degrees. There were snow flurries early that morning.

If I remember right, he was coming off of a serious knee injury around that time and the loss of speed really affected his game.
On the flip side, the best games I ever attended were in 2007. I was in Nashville visiting my brother in college and we caught the Jags game that weekend. We whooped up on vince young and the tacks despite Quinn Gray starting at qb. Plus it was the game where Fred broke 10,000 yards.
A few weeks later we were in Jacksonville for the Raiders game. Fred broke an 80 yard run on his first carry and the entire stadium chanted his name for what seemed like 10 minutes lol. A bunch of obnoxious, drunk Raider fans in our section tried to start fights and were escorted out of the stadium.

Its amazing what kind of talent we used to have - and it makes you appreciate it even more, especially when it is gone.
Del Rio is a quality NFL coach. He has a lot go great pieces in Oakland to build a above 500 team. Carr Mack Cooper Murray M Smith with enough vets like Tuck Woodson and Crabtree.
He definitely has his guys but I've always thought he squeezes a lot of production from players past their prime and before they peak. I'll be rooting for him probably more so than Coughlin.

If we're talking about the same game, I will lay a lot of the blame on Del Rio. That was one of the two home games I've ever missed. It was also the game where Leftwich got a concussion and he was left in the game for more than three quarters, from what I recall. It was obvious, even on TV, that Leftwich just wasn't 'right' after he got his bell rung. He should've been yanked way earlier.
