With Tony Romo stuck on IR-Boomerang with a broken clavicle, the Dallas Cowboys are making a run on quarterbacks.

Dallas traded for Bills quarterback Matt Cassel on Tuesday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, according to a source informed for the move. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported that the teams will swap late 2017 draft picks as well.

The news came just minutes after Rapoport reported that the Cowboys promoted Kellen Moore to the active roster from their practice squad.

I'm sure Weeden is just as capable as Cassel to hand the ball off.

The Cowboys are not running as much this year as they did with DeMarco Murray. They need a passer. And yes, Dez Bryant will return before Tony Romo does.

I'm sure that was the plan before Romo went out, it's the Randle/Mcfadden show now...if that actually means anything.

Wonder if they inquired about Henne.
Now the plan is to promote Matt Cassel to the starting job after he learns the Cowboys offense. Of course Brandon Weeden will start against the Falcons Sunday because he already knows it.

And if he didn't know it, he wouldn't start. So that makes sense.

Jerrah must have spent some serious time researching their Madden ratings to pull the trigger on this one.
I'm glad to see Kellen Moore finally get the opportunity to be a # 2 QB in a regular season game.   While Moore certainly has physical limitations as an NFL QB,  his work ethic and football intelligence are excellent.

I'm willing to bet that nobody inquires about Henne.

He will be a free agent after this year anyway.

Henne's value is apparently off the field, not on it.

Im actually surprised they traded for Cassel, word was that the Cowboys were pretty happy with Weeden.

How's that old saying go about actions having a louder voice than words?

Yup
The Cowboys ultimately traded for Cassel. To think we could have just signed him while dumping Henne's $2 mil salary.

Henne's salary is 2yrs/$8 mil. $4.5 M guaranteed.

I'm not sure where you are getting $2Mil?

I'm not either... I thought he had a $2 mil base salary and a $2 mil SB hit on top of that... According to this he actually has a $3.5 mil base salary this year that the Jaguars could have saved by replacing him. SInce he was on the roster week one, this money is now fully guaranteed.

They weren't releasing him, so you can let that obsession go.  it's okay.  This notion that they were going to save money is just ridiculous.  They're how far below the cap right now?  They aren't in need of unloading any salary.

The salary cap is just one factor. Money is still money. You can buy a lot of pool chlorine for $1M.

Maybe so, but you sure can't buy a lot of NFL football player for $1M.
