I'm serious. If this was 2 years ago I wouldn't say that but based on where we are today? I wouldn't touch Mack. Especially not for the price tag he has now.

IF Wiz earns an extension with his play this season we're going to have a lot of solid depth on the Oline. Still may be looking for an Elite LT

I agree. Let him play a full season before deciding if he deserves an extension. So far we are only talking about one player. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but can you really expect that success every week?

I hope we saw the beginning of an upgrade at center the last two weeks. However, I can't forget the failed attempt to steal Alex Mack form the Browns and wonder if we should go after him again anyway.

Well, if Mack doesn't recover from the injury and falls on his face, obviously nobody would get behind going after him.  However, if he returns to form then, yeah, you are talking about one of the best linemen in the league vs an above average center who was just jettisoned by the Raiders for a perceived upgrade.

It would be moot anyways if Mack were to crash this season.  I doubt Mack would opt out of his contract if that happened.

We wrote his current contract and he signed it, so obviously the price is right for him. And with the leg injury, it certainly will not go up next year.

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE.

If Wiz continues to prove that he can play at his full potential (post-injury), the price is going to go up tremedously.
It's tough for a DT to make a lot of impact plays.  If he's as good as Suh, teams tend to run away from him.  They also tend to double team him in pass protection.  His overall effect can often be found in other players' stats.

In Suh's case yesterday, it looked like was was integral to the good run defense, but as a pass rusher, he didn't get pressures or sacks and didn't create opportunities for other defenders to get them, either.

Did Wiz actually play "well"? I seem to recall a couple of holding penalties, and some issues snapping the ball...............then, PFF said he had a bad game and gave him a (-5.0) rating, for what that's worth.

Obviously, the OL played well as a whole, but I'm just wondering if the coaches agree that Wiz played well in that game

Alex Mack, not Wiz.

I really don't like PFF's rankings. Analytics are subjective to the person doing the stats.

The run blocking is a problem and was a big problem yesterday.

And if by seasons end (or seasons twilight) he looks like a keeper, they'll get a deal done before he hits the market.

We rushed for over 100 yards.....

but I agree that midway through the 2nd half... when we need positive yards, we were getting stuffed.

I think that was a matter of scheme. Dolphins made 2nd half adjustments and were able to stuff the run. Their linebackers flowed to the ball better in the 2nd half.

I don't care if we rushed for over a 100. If Yeldon didn't have the moves he did, it would have been worse.

He's a shifty guy and I remember one run in particular that he missed several tackles at or behind the line to gain positive yards.

Pass blocking looked improved tho and that's a big step in the right direction.

Quite naturally i'm one to say let's handle this stuff in the off-season but Wiz looks like the real deal. I'd prefer we look him up now while the buying is still low. Obviously Caldwell has gotten some good will by owning up to paying guys if they perform on a prove it deal but now would be the time. I

Waiting may end up with us losing out on a top player because he has proven to be worth it post injury.

Realistically, I don't see us re-signing him now but I've seen enough to feel he and solidified that spot for us.

Thanks for the correction.

Think before you post please...
