Quote:So the lack of halftime adjustments caused AR15 to push off during a play action pass in the 3rd quarter. Or caused Jermy's hands to slip into a defender's facemask in the 4th?

Y'all some funny people...

that push off was a bogus call.  he barely touched Grimes who slipped on his own.

That was lame.
Quote:It's the NFL. It's not the college game. Point differentials in the vast majority of games is a td or less. If you can't grasp that point, go find a college team that wins their games in lopsided fashion.

We won. I know this eats you up.

You can't play conservative up 7 dude, time and time again teams give up leads because of it. If throwing against their secondary is working, why on earth would you try to emphasize the running game in the 2nd half (esp when it isnt working)
I'm one of the posters that have spoken out rather loudly regarding our second half slumps.

I can't honestly say the offense slumped yesterday due to play calling. I could be wrong, but I thought the plays in the 2nd half were rather dynamic for the most part. A couple unlucky drops and lack of execution stalled our drives. But at the end, we drove the ball when it mattered.

We won the game in the second half, it's really hard to be critical after a win. I can't do it.

You gotta give the coaches and the players high praise for gutting out a victory against a team that has been hailed as an up and comer by many "experts" at the start of the season.

On top of that, this was the team that dismantled us last year in the second half. These are all positives that you have to give the coaches and players on offense major credit for.
Quote:we drove down the field on the final drive, so final adjustments were made effectively. there is really nothing to gripe about.

But given the number of opportunities we has in the 2nd half, we should have put the game away. We were fortunate the defense held up given how many starters were missing in the secondary toward the end

You dont abandon the run.  Plus we still have a young QB susceptible to mistakes.  There was no problem with the game plan yesterday that was actually anything but conservative.
How many times have we heard it over the years: you can't take your foot off the gas against manning and brady.

You can't beat the great ones playing like that.

They totally got away from what worked in half 1, what are you talking about. Your gameplan shouldnt be to get awau from what is working.

Not saying abandon the run, but running on first down all the time becomes predictable as hell.

We didn't take our foot off the gas.  That is what you are not getting.

Agreed, the second half yesterday felt different and looked different than prior second halves we've experienced....
I think the mindset of the Jags coaches is to play not to lose.   As such, they evaluate the strategy based on our defenses ability to stop the opposing offense.  Result:  If our D, stops their O,  we remain conservative.  I'd say that as long as we're within 7 points, you're not going to see much in the 2nd half.  We don't have an aggressive 2nd half mindset.

You might find it interesting that they threw six times and ran five times on first down, in the second half.
