Obviously there is no reason for a team to trade up in the first round for a QB. It would make sense in later rounds if a team thinks it can get the next Dak Prescott. For example the Bears would be stupid to pick a QB at #3, so a team may want to trade with us thinking they will go that direction at #36.

Of course we'd all like to trade down if we got the right deal. Any trade, up or down, has to be worth it. The trouble is, teams want to trade down a lot more often than they want to trade up. I'm sure after the draft people will complain that we didn't trade down, but none of us will know what deals were offered.
I don't see any scenario where teams would want to trade up to our spot.

It makes no sense to anybody. You singled out QBs. As for your example here, the Browns were idiots to make that trade because Josh Gordon had just been suspended one year for failing another drug test. No way would I consider trading the #4 pick if I was Cleveland that year.
Also remember this: teams looking for QBs don't need to jump over Tennessee. They would rather trade with the Titans to leapfrog the Jets.

The 49ers would be idiots if they used their first round pick on a QB. They have needs almost everywhere and no QB is worth the #2 pick.

Agree, Elliot is nice, but he is a luxury they didn't need. Went from 4.6 ypc to 4.8. Wasn't worth it.

After hiring Shanahan as HC and Saleh as OC, it appears the Niners will be moving from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3 scheme. If that is the case, they have an abundance of interior d-lineman and not enough quality edge pass rushers. They could either try to get Allen to slim down a little and try him as a 4-3 DE or I could see them also drafting Solomon Thomas as a 4-3 DE with their first round pick. I do not see them using the #2 pick on a QB at all.
The Lattimore at 2 mocks I've seen lately make sense. He's really damn good.

As a pure cover guy, yeah pretty comfortably...perhaps the best since Revis they say. Ramsey still has plenty work to do in technique, but he has the length, athleticism, and physicality advantage on darn near anyone.

Speaking of trading down.. the Niners may be a team hat looks to trade back as well for a team that falls in love with Trubisky/Watson. Talk about a team devoid of talent. They need as many picks as possible.

So the 49ers might want to drop two spots, which would put them behind a team that needs to draft a QB, to pick a QB who everyone knows is not a top 5 talent? Waiting until the second round would make more sense.
