What's all the hype about him to the point where people in general want him to take Demetrius Mccray's starting corner's spot? I thought Mccray played well last year and shut down every receiver that was in front of him including Antonio Brown, Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr. Maybe i'm just out of touch but i just don't see why Mccray deserve to lose his job.

Colvin is more talented and has a higher ceiling.

Prior to Colvin's knee injury in the senior bowl, he was rated as a low first to early second round pick.

When he finally got to play last year, he produced one of the few big plays from our DBs.

He has shown good coverage in training camp thus far.

That said, it seems far from a given at this point that mcCray will lose his job.  At minimum, it would appear he would be a nickel.

All of the talk prior to training camp was that Colvin would be the nickel.  Colvin played outside and inside last night.

If anyone seems in danger of losing his job, it's Jeremy Harris.  Harris is playing very well, despite not playing the position in quite some time.  Whereas before he seemed destined for the practice squad, now, to some observers, he seems destined to make the final 53.
I must have missed the part where McCray shut down Dez.

You did
First of all  - McCray would still get MANY snaps at corner if they follow through with the proposal of starting Colvin outside, but kicking him inside on nickel packages.  They played in nickel quite often last year.  I expect that to continue.

Also -  Colvin's talent was pretty apparent to me last season when reviewing a few of the games that he took part in.  McCray quietly plays solid technical defense but has a way to go before becoming a "playmaker."  Colvin, on the other hand has more of a nose for the ball and with all the talk about trying to increase the INT number this season, I think getting him on the field often is a priority to Bradley.

I like McCray and I hope he can play well enough to make it hard to sit him -  but in the little I've seen of Colvin - he looks like the more naturally gifted athlete of the two.

If our biggest problem is having too many good DBs, then we're in a good place.

McCray did play well on Dez, which is why Dez started lining up on Gratz's side. From what I remember. That's when Dez went off.
We haven't had this problem in years. Which is a good thing
Gone are the days of guys like Tyron Brackenridge and Aaron Ross are starting CBs for us. We have 3 starting caliber cornerbacks on our roster, and good depth behind them . Now, if we can get good safety play

exactly
McCray > Colvin. for days.

You mean when he picked up the fumble Gratz caused?

I like Colvin as much as anyone but people are really overhyping him. Truth is we still haven't seen that much.

Guest

we need them both its a long season

Deserve ain't got nothin to do with it.
Colvin shifts to the nickel in passing situations. We have a good problem for a change. Having multiple players at a position that have proven skills isn't a bad thing. As the season goes that depth will pay dividends.

Wasn't McCray getting raving reviews from PFF? As in, calling him an "upper-half" cornerback?

We'll see.

I don't think it was an accident he carried a first-second round grade pre injury.

I don't think it was an accident he had the awareness to pick up the fumble.

I don't think it was an accident he played well in the scrimmage.

But we'll see.
I personally think that McCray should be the starter. He did perform well vs top tier WRs last year.

I really like McCray as well.

Here's a question... It's early in the morning, so I must be missing something.. but why not have colvin starting on one side and McCray on the other side?
