"Big Spoon" Most of the time all you need is a t-spoon to spin the Wells Fargo divers up

Overkill is fun..
The only thing that would worry me in the preseason would be our guys getting whipped one on one consistently. We all know that the preseason is about evaluating players and if our guys are getting beaten consistently across the board it isn't a good sign.
The offensive line needs to show it can block on a regular basis, especially since they'll likely only be facing vanilla schemes. WRs need to show they can run good routes, catch balls thrown at them, and drag their toe if they need to. The RBs need to show they can break a tackle or two. Bortles needs to show he can maintain his throwing motion even in the heat of a game.
The defensive line needs to show it can stop the run up the middle and the DBs need to show they can break up a pass sometimes.
As nice as it is to try to get people to put things in perspective, that's not how things work around here,. You know that, Bullseye. If the team looks bad in the first preseason game, the naysayers will be out in full force calling for Gus/Dave's jobs, and declaring the rebuild process a complete failure. You know the drill.
It won't matter that there's little to no game planning, or that the outcome of the game is pretty much irrelevant to what the coaching staff is trying to accomplish in these games. These are the people who will complain about a 7th rounder not living up to expectations. Trust me, they'll melt down as if it's mid season if things go badly.

You're right, and if the team looks good they'll say "It's just a meaningless preseason game!"

Knowing how our fans react to things, even if the team goes in and dominates in a meaningless game, they'll find the mistakes and fixate on them in half a dozen threads just to have something to complain about.
One of the few things I have picked from Oehser that are worthy of repeating:
Fans gonna fan.
I just want to see the Jags on the field. Win or Lose, I'm happy. Plus it is preseason.
First time Bortles checks down: "Oh no, Henne's ruined him!"
First time Yeldon gets hit while running for the hole: "Oh no, he's another Gerhart!"
First time Beadles runs out of the tunnel: "Play Cann!"
When Lee leaves the field with the starters: "It's his hamstring again. Bust."
When Corey Grant makes an unforced fumble of his first kickoff return: "Oh boy, I tell you, he's gonna be great someday!"
When the Steelers cross the 50: "Fire Bradley!"
The first preseason game will be our first real chance to evaluate players. That's what preseason is all about. It's not about winning or losing. It's a step up from the scrimmage that they did. Our team is merely "practicing" the same way that the opposing team is doing in order to evaluate players. The benefit is that this "practice" will be at full game speed against someone not a teammate. It's also a "practice" for game officials, stadium crew, etc.
I know that my wife and I have left preseason games early in order to do other stuff together.
So I don't waste any valuable time, I'm going to start to panic now.
I'm not scurred of the squeelers.
Jags 16 Squeelers 10
What??? We aren't supposed to expect a complete and dominant shut out? TDs with every play set regardless of being 1st or 2nd team? Forcing turnovers on every defensive set? Isn't that progression? This is absurd!
But, in all seriousness, i agree with you completely. Even though it's year 3 of the new beginning, we still have a bunch of new pieces; including a whole new offense. I expect to see improvements, but also mishaps and areas of concern. But that's part of the process. I'm just excited Jag football is back!!
GO JAGS!!
Speaking of overreaction - Has anyone heard from TMD? Sorry, not trying to derail and I know he's banned from this site, but he's also not posted on Twitter in a month and he was MEGA involved there for several months. Kind of concerned actually. It's not like anyone would know if something happened to him.
So I'm not derailing the thread. Please temper all excitement if we look dominant. Please don't be dumb if we have a few 3 and outs. There!
Well, I'm in Tampa, so no Wells Fargo for me. After the first three and out, Tampa Jags fans can meet me at the Skyway Bridge.

Look for my RX8.
Funny, my fiancé and I ended up buying Bucs season tickets bc she's a Dallas fan and her friend is a Chicago fan and it's cheaper to buy the season tickets than to go to 3 separate games individually

He probably had to be sent to the psych ward after Lee's current hammy situation

Wow, ten games are cheaper than three? I just got my tickets to the Bucs/Jags game, so I'll be there. Unless there's a three and out in this upcoming preseason game, then it's off the Skyway I go.
Str8 up! if we look.. (can i say this? im guessing not..) if we come out looking like crud, I myself and many others will, in fact, be disappointed.
There is no "getting this out of the way". it's inevitable. There is only "getting out of the way of this" , cause brudda, believe you me... its coming. (if we look like smudge)
