I am thinking that the Jags are probably going to steer clear of Aldon Smith, especially since he most likely will serve a 10 games suspension for this most recent indiscretion.

10 game? He just served a 9 game suspension last year. I'd be surprised if they hit him with anything less than a year long suspension. This is, what, his 3rd or 4th strike? Blackmon got indefinite on his 3rd strike.

Yeah, but Blackmon's an evil pothead. Smith is just a violent sociopath who stabs people, drives drunk more than he drives sober and threatens airport security with an imaginary bomb. Big difference.

All of that looks bad but none of those guys are the caliber of Willis, Bowman, Smith, and Harbaugh etc. That's jags offseason isn't even close

We're talking about a guy who had 19.5 sacks in the only full season he's played. This is a player with undeniable talent that has a bad drinking problem. I feel bad for the guy. He would be a major, major addition to any team if he can get off the sauce and quit acting so damn crazy all the time.

Blackmon had 2 DUIs before he signed his rookie contract. He's one you could argue is a bigger drunk than Aldon Smith.

Ok, so Blackmon's got at least as many DUIs as Aldon Smith. When's the last time Blackmon stabbed someone or went around telling people at an airport security checkpoint that he had a bomb? Blackmon smoked pot. Smith is a violent sociopath. If Smith gets anything short of an indefinite suspension that lasts at least a year, Goodell is officially a bigger joke than he already was.

I agree with you, but I don't think it's right to label Blackmon as "just a pothead." If Smith gets back in the NFL in less than a year, you're right, Roger deserves to be strung up and given his 40 lashes.

I didn't see this mentioned but on Jaguars Monday this week, both Boselli and Prisco both said the Jaguars should sign Aldon Smith immediately.

It's hard for me not to blindly follow Boselli considering all he has done for the franchise, but I still have to disagree. You have to steer clear from a guy like that. We have enough players serving suspensions and with the way the NFL is with suspensions regarding Jaguars players vs. everyone else in the league, Aldon Smith will be slapped with a lifetime NFL ban the second he signs with the Jaguars.
