I honestly think we should get him. There will be a team in this league that wont care about his mistakes off the field. The guy is a top 5 DE when he's on the field and puts up double digit sacks every season. We can't ignore the opportunity to get him just because he's not a perfect nice guy. Getting sacks and making Andrew Luck run for his life is all that matters, and he would eat him all day. Obviously his suspension will be for the year, but next year he could play when Fowler gets back and we could possibly have a top 10 defense.
Like I said, his legal problems don't matter when he's on the field. As long as that guy gets us sacks, I could care less, cause that's all its about. Even if he's here for two seasons and gets arrested again, that's 30-40 sacks on a cheap deal and probably a play-off run.
As much talent that he does possess, the same could be said about Blackmon. He's definitely got some issues he needs to address and we don't need that kind of distraction. I would love to get a hold of him and have him for 2-3 years without any incident. But you just can't depend on that.
GO JAGS!!

Going to the play-offs every wear with 10 or more wins? Yeah, I'd love to be the Bengals.

Its worth the distraction in my opinion, because there probably wouldn't be one. Who on this team will actually care about his issues? It's not like anyone cared when Blackmon was getting in trouble... Everyone minded their business and kept to themselves. The players didn't have a meltdown, the fans did. He could be signed to yearly contracts with no money guaranteed if he has legal issues. If he doesn't work out, we still have Marks, Davis, Fowler, Branch, Bennett, Smith, Miller, etc.

Pete Prisco and Tony Boselli was not. I hadn't even thought about it until Boselli mentioned it. Their point was that there is 0 risk to signing him because of how you could structure the contract. If he is suspened forever and never reinstated they don't pay him anything and he doesn't take up a roster spot. If Fowler is what we think he is, next year we could put a Fowler/Smith combo on the field somehow and likely have one of the best pass rushes in the league.
Anyway, this is paraphrasing their argument. I didn't even know you could sign a suspended player. The thing that makes this different from Blackmon is there is a good chance Blackmon didn't want to play in the NFL. I don't think that is the case with Smith.

Exactly. It's almost like Prisco and Boselli have a brain and know what it takes to get wins. Who would've thought getting Aldon "20 sacks" Smith, was a good idea?

And not winning a single one of those games.
