Quote:. Tottenham is likely valued at around the £300m mark?
How does that compare to the team Shad Khan currently owns in the U.K. and compared to the other teams in the Premier League?

I can believe that he might want to cut ties with Fulham and buy a better team like Spurs, but the idea that he'd want to move the Jaguars here is clearly ridiculous. A small amount of research by the writer would have confirmed that.

Writers doing research? Blasphemy!

Fulham I'd imagine is probsbly valued at around 80m-100m.
Premier league Man Utd probsbly around 1b-1.2b then Chelsea Man City- 800m etc so hopefully that gives you a good idea

Thanks for the info.
While I'm certainly skeptical of the article, it appears that Shad Khan can afford to buy any Premier League team that's available for sale.

So Khan's new yacht is worth more than his professional sports team? #RichManProblems

Forbes has Tottenham valued at $600m

Quote:Forbes has Tottenham valued at $600m
From the article:
" Tottenham will be worth an estimated £1billion when their state-of-the-art stadium is built. Khan’s net worth, according to the Forbes list, is $4.6bn (£2.99bn) and he is understood to have paid approximately £150m for Fulham when he took over at Craven Cottage two years ago."

You've gotta love the complete lack of substance.
This is one of those times.

Fulham have got relegated since Shad took over, and then almost relegated again so I thonk 80-100 is about right. Tottenham I can't see how they'll be a 1b team when theyre not even a top 4 team, (top 4 qualifies for Champions League, where the big money is). But Forbes knows more than me I guess

I'm not for a minute defending this article by the Evening Standard, which is lazy and ill-informed, but I think that part of the problem is a general lack of understanding of American sports over here.
Someone in the US who follows the NFL more closely would probably realise this story is nonsense (although there seems to be a lot of crap written about the Jaguars on both sides of the Atlantic !) but your average tabloid hack in the UK doesn't have much of a clue, sadly. Maybe that will change if the NFL becomes more popular over here.
And while some papers give the British media a bad reputation, it's worth saying that there's plenty of good journalism over here too !

TBH, we've been moving closer and closer to that for some time now.

Silver's work is on the entertainment end of the sports reporting world.
I love his sense of humor. He's a must follow on social media, IMO.
Fret less, laugh more.

Quote:British tabloid press actually has the distinction of requiring less factual content than tabloids here in the US. If they can think it up, it goes to print.
And you know this how?
Not saying it's not true but I'm just interested where your informed knowledge comes from
I have no experience of the American tabloid journalism so cannot make a comparison but I'd be interested to know your experience of the British media?
