I have no experience of the American tabloid journalism so cannot make a comparison but I'd be interested to know your experience of the British media?

Don't get too worked up over this.  I also think the British media does a better job of reporting on actual news in the US than our own media does on certain issues.  I tend to read a lot of UK news sites because they don't gloss over stories that get treated with kid's gloves in the US.

Writers have to write I guess...

There's probably a delay effect on obvious stuff being recognised the further you get from the source. In Jacksonville it's been obvious the team isn't moving for a long time. The rest of the US seems to have finally caught up. At the rate these things go, the UK will be caught up by the end of the year...

A few winning seasons and average home attendence of 65k or better will make these rumors disappear, and the lazy media hacks who can't or won't research their stories will move on to lower hanging fruit.

That would be awful viewing for a football (American) game.

You're right.  He spent all this time trying to get into the NFL ownership club so that he could turn around and sell the team.  All that talk about generational ownership, and the investment he's made in the franchise since purchasing it along with his investments in the city were just talk, right?

His investment is time and money... he won't take it to the grave.

The Jags aren't going anywhere, the speculation around the Spurs is obviously 'spurious' and Khan has invested a lot into the stadium, indicating at least a short/mid-term commitment. However, let's not over play Khan's investments in Jacksonville just yet.

 

The Shipyards plan is just a plan and if you've been around commercial development much, nothing can be counted upon until they break ground, and even then you're crossing your fingers. The Shipyards plans cost a few dozen thousand dollars to draw up and shop around, nothing compared to the cost of the project.

 

Khan put faith in his employee that ran Stache Investments to invest in Jacksonville projects and then reined things in when he realized that those investments didn't live up to his standards (Kyn, Edgewood Bakery) and other projects, like the Laura Street Trio, have failed to materialize in any way that ties Khan's fortunes to Jacksonville's success.

 

Khan is a business man first - at some point, we can hope that building up Jacksonville is the one and only course of action for him to increase the value of his multiple investments. Tangible movement on the Shipyards project would represent that. However, I'd argue that we are not at all at that tipping point just yet. 

 

Look to what's happening in Detroit with Mike Ilich - when a billionaire's best interests are aligned with ours it's great but don't believe for a second that they are doing it for the 'team' or the 'city'. This isn't a knock on Khan, who I feel has taken the franchise in the right direction and improved the gameday experience. I simply want to point out that Khan isn't, to date, too invested to leave, nor is he operating from a place of altruism in regards to the city or the fans.

ESPN Steven Godfrey said that Shahid Khan was going to sell his soccer club, Fulham in order to buy Tottenham to move the Jaguars to London.

 

That's a bold statement, but to slap the face in the other direction the reporter goes on to say that Londoners don't want the Jaguars full time because they want (get this) Quality NFL.


Shaking my head, I hope Gus Bradley wins a lot of games this season.....

Khan has already said his intentions are to be a generational owner.  Pretty sure that means he doesn't intend to take the team to the grave, and that it will be handed down to his son at some point.  Not sure why we're worrying about that at this point, but I won't stop you from trying to rain on anyone's parade since that's pretty much your schtick around here.
