Quote:Schefter's an idiot for posting that and putting his name on it in the first place. He honestly should've known better.
What was the point of even publishing it? He could've just said that JPP had a finger removed. It's not like anyone would have been able to deny it once JPP left the hospital and went home sans finger.
This sucks. Although I can't really speak from experience.

Schefter has built a reputation where a lot of people take his word for gold. I agree, he could've just said it happened and most of the sports world would've believed him.

Now he's going to be involved in a lawsuit he certainly doesn't want to be apart of, because it'll probably mean revealing his source, and that'll probably end up with less of his sources talking to him.

His source is pretty obviously someone within the hospital (unless JPP's own family got hold of the records somehow and released them). There will be plenty of lawsuits to go around against Schefter, ESPN, the hospital, whoever at the hospital leaked the info, the manufacturer of the firework, possibly Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny, should be fun to watch.
Quote:Hope Schefter's got one hell of a good lawyer on retainer, because he and whoever gave him that chart are going to be sued for however many of those $14.8 million JPP misses out on as a result of this.
He must not be to worried about it.  He never took it down and its still on his twitter.  Im sure if it was that big of a deal ESPN would of told him to take it down
I wonder if they will rescind the franchise tag and if he will be a free agent?

PFT suggests that that's exactly what JPP's camp wants the Giants to do, because they believe that even after the injury, they can get JPP a higher-paying, long-term contract on the open market.
Maybe he can still play the same without it but I wouldnt sign him to a long term deal until I saw how he played out this season (if he can play at all) if I was the giants

There are only 2 ways to learn things in this world, teaching your self (your own experience) or someone else teaching you (someone else' experience).

This is definitely one of those times that you should learn from someone else' experience.
Quote:got his finger amputated, ouch

If there is anything "good" about the story, the index finger he lost is the one he needs least as a pass rusher.

As long as he can still sign the franchise tag, he needs to do that as soon as possible.

Agree with their take.

Schefter probably shouldn't have shared the pic, but if not him it would have been public sooner than later regardless with social media.

The real issue is the hospital and who did it.  JPP may have a wing named after him when all is said and done.  Someone is getting fired, and the hospital likely to cut a nice check.

Someone is going to pay for releasing those records, and it won't be a pleasant experience since it's a violation of federal law.

I somewhat agree as well.  Allowing anyone to take a photo of someone's medical records is just wrong.  The hospital just put themselves into a major controversy.

Adam Schefter should also be named in any future lawsuit for distributing private information.  I can understand his motivation to "get the scoop" regarding the story, but to publish photos of someone's personal medical record is wrong.
And i liked Schefter...

Go figure, dummy millionaire stands to make millions off a lawsuit after blowing off his finger while being a dummy. JPP owes Shefter a dinner.
Schefter isn't the bad guy here. Sure it may not have been the most "ethical" thing to do but unless he broke into the hospital database himself then he didn't do anything illegal. He just did his job. The medical professional who gave the information to Schefter on the other hand is in deep doo-doo.

Um, ethics, yes, not so much. Not always a matter of the law. What he did was wrong.

Exactly.  Schefter is no better than the person who leaked the medical record information.  He could have very easily reported this without posting the picture.
I'm sure JPP would've preferred Shefter leak it because of the lawsuit that's to follow. News of his finger was going to get out eventually anyway, now hell probably get paid for it, hence him owing the Scheftster a few dinners. If Adam didn't post the med record, it would've been all hearsay.
