Quote:Hurns also benefited from a depleted WR core, Knowing the system front and back, No respect from opposing teams' DC's and DBs thus open lanes, and once some of those evaporated, He became invisible as the season wore on.

With a new system, I doubt he matches his rookie year. He is talented enough to deserve a roster spot though. A good #4 option that can be relied on to not screw up off the field and work hard. Hes exactly what we need in a backup WR.

Uh.... You realize that this current system is not the one from his rookie year, right. Fish was fired after last year. This is already a new system and hurts is 7th in the NFL in receiving yards... Also, after last years performance, there is game film on him. He still seems to be performing pretty well...
I like hurns. I think that he has all the tools to be a 12 14 hundred yard reciever even play at a pro bowl level. Unquestionably hes a dream ufa signing.

Justin Blackmon was special. The way he caught the ball ran like a running back and blocked like a guard. Hurns can be a really good reciever. Jb was a bully.
Hurns was record setting at Miami, even with Stephen Morris throwing the ball over his head every other throw. Hope he shatters some of Jimmy's records as a Jaguar.

receptions (862)

receiving yards (12,287)

receiving touchdowns (69)

receptions in a single season: 116 (1999)

receiving yards in a single season: 1,636 (1999)

seasons with 100+ receptions (2)

seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards (9)

Love Hurns but ARob is our best WR.

He's getting doubled by defenses which is great for Hurns.

I dont get the arob v. Ahurns thing. Both are playing great and both are becoming consistent targets.

I can't tell if Hurns is benefiting from ARob or if he's that good, but Hurns is a very complete receiver.

I think you could make an argument for both of them. I like Hurns a little more but ARob is slowly becoming Alshon Jeffrey 2.0

It's likely a combination of both.

If defenses are going to key in on ARob, Hurns seems to be the kind of receiver that can and will make you pay but isn't generally going to draw a lot of doubles himself. Ideally, it's going to be a very unfavorable position to be in for defenses as these guys get more experience. Do you slide coverage to 15 and let 88 possibly torch you or do you stay in base and take your chances?

All I can say is that if ARob gets to a place where he can regularly beat double coverage I truly feel this offense can be sick.
Imagine if we could get JT involved. Where is the coverage going to go? Arob side? Bracket JT? It's nice to see this on the offensive side.

,,,,,  and ultimately having Denard Robinson providing a check down option --- perhaps after the bye week.

Yeah, JT80 and Shoelace back in action...  We have so many offensive weapons...

Can't wait to see how coverages have to respect the passing attack. Yeldon should have more room too.. JT80 is a huge addition even if he doesn't pile up the stats.
Quote:I still think about this lol.  Im sure you probably still think Hurns is a number 4 WR but I still disagree.  I wish we could have 4 #4 WR like that

I made that post back in the summer before the pre-season even began. I really did think Hurns would disappear but man did he prove me wrong completely. The dude is balling and the fact that he is keeping up with Robinson stats wise is just even more impressive.

I'm wondering if the Allen brothers' production will keep up as guys come back. Julius appears to already be getting a good share of the reps, and then Lee and Greene might be back before you know it. I'm guessing Marquis will be ready to go after the bye for their next game at the Jets on November 8th, and then Rashead Greene should be set to return two weeks later for the Jaguars next home game against the Titans on Thursday night, November 19th.

I see them both as mainly possession receivers with some burst. They aren't the same but I'd rate them about equal. Hurns has better moves and gets open more often. Robinson is better at making the catch in tight spaces or over a defender's head, and has a bigger catch radius.

For anyone that was a dolphin fan back in the day, the marks brothers would be an awesome duo to resurrect here with the Allens...
I'm just thankful we have both Allens.

Just wanted to hear someone eat a little crow, haha.  At least you admit you were wrong unlike some on here, not gonna say any names.  I would love to eat crow on some of the stuff I have said about Alu, Lewis, Henne, and Cyp......
