From the New Horizons spacecraft, an animated GIF of one rotation of Pluto. Closest approach on July 14th.


 

So is Pluto a planet or what? Can we get a final ruling on this? Looks planetary to me.

It has multiple moons so I vote planet.

Back in my day, Pluto was a planet. I'm sticking with that.

That's what they taught us, but I think recently they changed it's status to a dwarf planet.

Planet / Dwarf Planet?


 

Pluto is only 2/3 the diameter of our moon, but more than twice the diameter of the largest asteroid, Ceres. Pluto does have several satellites. I think the one shown in the video is Charon.


 

If Pluto is a planet, then so is Eris.
