Quote:Careful, you might "offend" some of our liberal friends on the board here by making a blanket statement.

One of my favorite quotes of all time.

"It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.”

Quote:Good stuff right there.

Let's look at the news over the past week.

Jerry Seinfeld says he won't do shows on college campuses anymore because there's always going to be someone who howls that they're offended by any material he may present.  He's not the first comedian to say such things, and not a single one of them who has indicated as such would be considered conservatives.  In each case, it's the politically correct environment fostered by progressives that has forced them to change the venues where they do their shows.  Those who were offended weren't conservatives projecting their failings.  They were a bunch of liberal college kids who think they somehow have the right to NOT be offended, so they demand it.

We saw the same thing recently when a couple of colleges caved to liberal student groups who were once again offended by a movie, American Sniper.  They found it offensive for Muslims and protested the free screenings on their campus.  Of course, the movie was at or near the top of the box office when it was first out there, so everyone had seen it....except for the liberals who were too busy being offended by what they'd been told the movie was about by other ivory tower elite liberals in the media who were equally offended.

The comment about being offended wasn't directed specifically at you, but to liberals in general.  Funny how you took offense though.

Quote:I could post one of any of a dozen videos of Bill O'Reilly being "offended" in a very loud and ape-like fashion here, but I won't bother because the people who really need to get the point would probably respond to it by saying, "Well, he's right."

Point here.  Not sure what part of the liberal playbook references Bill O'Reilly, but I'm sure that our liberal friends can find it in the index.  I'm actually kind of surprised that we haven't had a Glen Beck reference (yet).

I am actually surprised that none of our liberal friends have attacked you for using a "blanket statement".  Apparently when stating a fact regarding liberals is a "blanket statement?.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

How is it a blanket statement?  He mentioned one person, not an entire group of people.  He didn't use the word 'conservatives' or even 'fox news pundits'

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:You expect people who are alienated and persecuted to stay quiet? Public support has only changed because they didn't stay quiet. The world is better with less bigots.
Did you miss the part where I said there are ways to get a point across without alienating people? Regardless of what the issue is, if all there is is a bunch of rabble rousing and finger pointing and whatnot instead of intelligent conversation, then no one is going to take that issue/group seriously.

And I mean this for ANY situation. Whether it be the rioters in Baltimore and Ferguson, the rabid LGBT folks, rabid religious folks, etc. I will listen to anyone's POV until they start acting foolish or telling me that because I see things a different way that I'm wrong, then I don't care what they have to say, I'm done. We all have different views that come from different upbringings, life experiences, etc. I'm able to agree to disagree on a large number of things. A lot of people can't seem to do that as their need to be 'right' outweighs their sense of mutual respect of differing opinions. And it's usually those who demand tolerance and understanding the most.

99.9% of Fox News and their people are all gag worthy. As is most MSM. That's why I don't watch it.
