James Jones anyone?

It looks like with the signing of Crabtree and drafting Cooper that the Raiders no longer have Jones in their future plans. Could this be the veteran WR the Jags need to mentor the young guys? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
31 years old, averaged a whopping 9 yards per catch last year. You guess the answer.
What is he mentoring? How to drop balls at the most inopportune times? How to not have any run after catch ability?
I'll pass.

Quote:What is he mentoring? How to drop balls at the most inopportune times? How to not have any run after catch ability? Well, he's a veteran, so he MUST be good for mentoring, right? Seriously, the guys on our roster currently could probably mentor him. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Eww...
He just got cut by Oakland. Prior to drafting Cooper, they rivaled Cleveland on how atrocious their group of WRs were. Jones would add absolutely nothing to our team. He would only see the field with an injury and can't play special teams.
I think at this point we have what we have. If one of the WRs don't break out this season, we'll just have to lean more on the TEs and running backs.

There will be more cuts coming and there should be a name or two worth at least considering. This guy isn't one of them. Never argue with idiots. Lee, Robinson, Hurns, and Greene are locks, leaving likely one spot to be fought for among Doss, Copeland, Sanders, scrub we signed from Indy, and a veteran or two from other teams. I'll go with a veteran from another team for the daily double, Alex.

I'm not advocating it, but I wouldn't be surprised. I still think a vet receiver will be brought in, and you could certainly do worse. Jones has the advantage of knowing the system already, and he's quietly had some of the most reliable hands in the league over the past couple of seasons.
I'm never one to rule anything out entirely, but I think we're good at receiver.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:I'm never one to rule anything out entirely, but I think we're good at receiver. Yeah we're kind of loaded now. Anyone brought in at this point would be battling to be 5th on the depth chart at best. Robinson Lee Hurns Greene ? (Arrelious Benn, Doss, Copeland, Sanders, Vet FA WR)

I don't buy this whole "mentoring process" anymore. It sounds more of an excuse to waste money on old, washed up talent. A good WR's coach should be all these receivers really need..
The Jags have arguably one of the best position coaches in the league in Jerry Sullivan. He's more than enough mentor.
