I think the answer is sometimes.

The difference between the draft today and the draft 10 years ago is that, comparatively, I think significantly more teams want to trade down than up. The value has gone down since the supply has went up. However, when the supply goes down, such as when there is a highly coveted player, the value chart comes back into effect.

It was way off for a while and badly overvalued high picks. Once the rookie wage scale was instituted it came back to being accurate.

Agree.

With every pick having a true relative dollar value, it certainly does bring a measurable, reliable scale back into play.

Unless you're the Raiders, of course.

Generally inflates draft value, but it might be accurate for this draft. There's 4 elite prospects and a whole bunch of others.

I think the talent is too balanced this year to have any drastic trade values.

It's really hard to tell whether a #5 pick is really any better than a #10 pick.  Is there really a secure pick and big difference between Fowler, Beasley, and Ray ?
