Quote:If only everyone walked away from a dangerous job. Police, firefighters, deployed military, coal miners, etc would be smart if they just walked off the job - nevermind supporting their families.Wow, did you just compare police fighters, firefighters and military people to a person playing a game for a living. I love Football, but your priorities are WAY out of whack. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
This situation is an outlier.....way, way way out. There are far more who would risk a lot health wise to keep playing the game as long as they can.
Look at Jason Witten's story, just one of many examples.

I love Football, but your priorities are WAY out of whack. How does this have anything to do with priorities? They have a job that is dangerous which they are rquired to do and they do it. If anything, I am complimenting them for doing a dangerous job where they are paid pennies, while an NFL player walks away from millions because of the danger. I am using them as an example on how not to be a wuss. But, pretend to be outraged that anything was compared to military and first responders. Maybe redirect that towards the people who are rioting against them and attacking them or the government who is stripping them of their benefits, pay and ability to defend themselves.
Quote:How does this have anything to do with priorities?Because you are condemning a guy for making the decision to leave the NFL. How dare he, right? You are also comparing Police Fighters to NFL players in completely ridiculous ways. Police Fighters and the such do not do their job for the money, they do it to saves lives and to protect people. Yes, both jobs are dangerous and both jobs revolve around risk, however policemen do it to make a difference and help people, while athletes do it for money. If getting money is worth risking your health, your priorities are all wrong.

You must not know any first responders then because the vast majority that I know would quit if they were only paid minimum wage. Its a noble job, but lets not act like its not a job. I didn't condemn the guy or anything to that nature. I just called him a wuss for quitting. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Obviously there are some risks you can avoid. Its been proven smoking cigarettes exponentially increases your risk for cancer. Every time you light one up you're gambling on that. Am I a wuss because I choose not to smoke vs living YOLO? Martin Mull has a line that I'm sure FreeAgent can appreciate: "Anyone can quit smoking. It takes a real man to face cancer."
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Quote:It's just like anything else. Education is key. Football will continue to be the great game it is played on all levels in all demographics throughout the nation. Knowing the risks and and preventative measures (and of course equipment design will get better from a safety stand point) will allow us all to continue to enjoy the game and parents to continue to have their kids in everything from sandlot, pop warner to the pros. I won't lie sir, I haven't a clue what exactly the hell it is you're talking about.
This thread kinda reminds me of the JW/Doesn't know how to Google thread.. The stupidness is just oozing out of it, but just have to keep reading it.. Its like rubberneckin on 295 with some bodies in the road.. Just gotta stop and look..
