Cordarrelle Patterson - trade?
|
No solid reports, but some indications seem to be that the Vikings have possibly given up on Codarrelle Patterson. They just brought in Mike Wallace and his big salary.
I think Patterson might be worth a mid-round pick to bring in as a returner. He is obviously at his best with the ball in his hands and a threat to go the distance on any play. How would you all feel about Caldwell going after him? What round pick might be fair compensation? Just an idea to bat around while waiting for the draft... Edit: Whoops meant to put this in the NFL forum. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I've seen a lot of people think that we should use a mid round pick on a guy like Lockett for the return capability. I guess you would have to decide if you would prefer a guy like Lockett/Dorsett or if you want Patterson. I lean towards somebody like Lockett or Dorsett.
Patterson is signed for two more seasons, with a $1.1m base in 2015 and $1.4m combination of base and roster bonus in 2016. His salary that you would be taking on is very reasonable for two more years. However, his play has been far below his 1st round expectations. Caldwell's actions and words point towards his satisfaction for the outside WRs, but looking to upgrade his slot WR. Patterson is not a slot WR, but does have good return skills.
Would they like Marcedes Lewis straight up in trade? (just dreaming). I think I would pass on Patterson if I were Dave. I think Patterson is worth, to some team, a 4th to 6th round pick.
I think Patterson's salary and return skills mama89e8rke 88it m7ore likely that he rides out 33333x3 the his 34xx7current contract in Minnesota.

Quote:They dropped jennings. Patterson stays put.I think that must have happened as I was making the thread. Didn't know it, or I probably would not have proposed the idea. Oh well.... For what it's worth, their coach did say Charles Johnson was the best WR on the team (prior to the Wallace trade) and they like Jarius Wright. Watch Jennings land in New England now and catch 70 balls. LOL. Nah, probably Carolina or K.C.
I'd say Carolina. Maybe the finally unleash the G.O.A.T. Stephen Hill

I think Jennings would be a nice fit here to be honest.
Caldwell wanted an experienced slot receiver. Jennings could fit that mold....even if just for a year. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Quote:I think Jennings would be a nice fit here to be honest.I don't know. I could see that being another Torry Holt situation here in Jax. I wish Caldwell would have went after Eddie Royal for that slot guy. He didn't get paid that much.

I have us taking him in the 3rd in my latest mock attempt.
I like Eddie Royal, but I don't think he would be as good in the slot as Jennings.
I think Jennings has worked plenty over the middle, and I think he is a better route runner than Royal. But it's moot now, considering Royal signed with Chicago. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
