Saints Fire Sale - Jarius Byrd - FS - Anyone?
|
So the word on the streets is that just about everybody on the Saints roster other than Drew Brees is available in trade. If so, then how about the Jags offering their 4th Rd pick for
Jairus Byrd to man the FS spot. The Saints paid him an insane amount of money last year and he is only 28 which fits the Jags model. We pick up his high salary because the team has the cap space and the fill a huge hole at FS with a Pro Bowl caliber player. Thoughts? We show less advertisements to registered users. A fourth-round pick for an overpaid safety coming off a knee injury?
I'd rather pursue Ron Parker.
What would the net salary cap savings or added cost be for the Saints if they traded Jarius Byrd?
The answer to this question very likely would go along way in determining the Saints incentive to trade him.
I think I'd be okay with Byrd, especially since our 4th likely won't be starting this year. He is an impact player who certainly has the skill set to man our FS spot in Gus's D, assuming his knee is all healed up.

Kenny Stills - Slot WR - Saints might be a nice replacement for Cecil Shorts in the slot.
The Saints might take the Jags 4th or 5th Rd pick. Would be a nice pickup.
Byrd no. Vacarro, maybe that's a different story.

Quote:Stills yes for a day 3 pick. Byrd no period. Yes to Stills as well. Young, productive, 4.4 speed, and cheap since he has 2 years left on his rookie contract. Stick him in the slot and our WR group is set.

Quote:All they did was convert roster bonus to signing bonus. They're pushing money onto future caps. No thanks. To say the least, it seems like the Saints are going in different directions at the same time.
Vocarro has good stats. But is he a true FS?
If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts
