What is the actual process if they aren't at or under cap by a certain date?

They will face fines and loss of draft picks. Also its possible the NFL may void players contracts to force a team to comply.

That may actually hurt them regarding the Cap. If I'm remembering correctly, when you trade a player, all of the remaining Cap hit accelerates onto the current Cap. So if Graham's hit was spread out via a Signing Bonus, all of that hit comes forward and may crush their Cap. Not to say that they would actually do this, I'm simply using it as an example.

As always, I could be wrong. It's happened before.

Here comes the rumors:

Quote:Junior Galette | NO

(February 25, 2015 2:52 PM EST)

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports coach Sean Payton has "expressed a desire" to release RE Junior Galette.

The Saints just signed Galette to a four-year, $41.5 million extension in September. He went on to post 10 sacks and three forced fumbles after a 12-sack campaign in 2013. But Galette, 27 next month, got into some hot water with the law after the season, as he was arrested for domestic violence and simple battery before later being accused of sexual assault. Galette is due a fully-guaranteed $12.5 million roster bonus next month that the Saints will have to pay. They'd gain nothing by releasing him. Expect Galette back in NOLA this season.

Another laughably horrible thing about the saints is the way they structured their contracts. $12.5 guaranteed for Gallete? That is just so bad and because it's guaranteed there really is no point in cutting him. He will be back next year with them.

@RapSheet: #Saints have a deal. They’re working out the logistics of sending TE Jimmy Graham & 4th to #Seahawks for Unger & 1st (@JayGlazer noted 1st)

Salary cap killed them

Well, I was actually shopping Jimmy Graham in my Fantasy Keepers league because he is the only thing on the Saints Offense... now in Seattle... I'll think I'll keep him.
