Quote:Good work, Scarecrow.

Thanks NYC!

Quote:Good for you on the weight loss that is so awesome.  I have done weight training before but nothing hard core.  I work with two guys though that are totally into it and have actually both competed and it is insane the dedication that takes.  The one guy never seems to eat anything but sushi and protein shakes when he's in competition.  He's in mid-30s now though and has started to ease up a bit.

Thanks hb.  It takes dedication to compete, that's for sure.  The diet is the hardest part when it comes to competition from all I've heard.  It takes a lot of strict eating and learning what you can/can't eat and when you can/can't eat it.

Quote:Scarecrow, looking healthy man! Your body handled your weight loss really well, congrats!

On topic, I do very very light workouts these days. Small weights or medicine balls. Lots of things just involving body weight - which I have plenty of haha.

I'm also a "heavy" runner so I don't do much of it, but I like doing steppers on a box. Much easier on my body.

Appreciate the kind words Senor!  It handled it surprisingly well for as big as I was.

Bodyweight stuff can be a great workout.  I know plenty who do that.  I should incorporate medicine balls more but we don't have many good ones at my local gym.

I don't lift as much as i used to back in high school but I've dropped about 30 pounds recently (down from 235) doing bodyweight workouts & playing basketball.

I lost 70 pounds about 7 years ago and have done a pretty good job of keeping it off.  I fluctuate between maintaining the weight and going up 10.  I've just been eating smarter and I walk 5.2 miles (damn close to) every morning since 1/1/2008.  I wake up at 4:30 to get ready for work so I can do my walk.  I feel like something is askew (there's a word I don't get to use often) if I don't walk.  I think a big part of keeping weight off is getting into a routine.

I can't imagine losing 150+.  Awesome man!

Kudos to you for losing the weight and even more for sticking to staying healthy!  Keeping it off seems to be the most difficult thing for a lot of people that lose weight.  For me it hasn't been an issue yet and hopefully it never will be.  I personally don't see my weight becoming a problem for me again, my life has completely changed and I'm better for it.

I tell you, every time I sit back and think about the whole thing it amazes me.

My diet was scary bad.  I was addicted to Mt. Dew.  I was drinking at least one 20oz bottle (more often than not at least a 1 liter bottle) a day.  I regularly ate large meals from McDonalds, horrible Subway sandwiches and huge meals from Taco Bell.  Junk food was my main food group.  I was killing myself little by little with food.  I haven't touched a Subway sandwich in a year or two and haven't had McDonalds or Taco Bell in even longer.  I couldn't even fathom eating it now, I think I'd be sick.  Which doesn't upset me.  I haven't had a soda/pop in going on two years and no alcohol in over a year.  The no alcohol thing was a personal choice that had little to do with health reasons.  I simply gave it up.

You're 100% right about getting into a routine.  That can make or break someone that is trying to get healthy.

I gave up fast food and soda some years ago also. When I'm absolutely forced to grab fast food I'm always amazed at how bad it makes me feel for the next 24 hours. It's shocking and I'll eat damn near anything.
