TV Shows

I'm about a quarter way through the third Silo book and keep putting it down. I don't know why, but the story exhausts me. It's really weird. I've never had a book do that to me before.

Dawg. Lasso is INCREDIBLE.

AppleTV has the best shows on TV and it’s not close.

Lasso, Silo, Foundation, Shrinking, Severance and For All Mankind are very good.

It definitely has the shows I watch most frequently at the moment. I've watched all the ones you mentioned and they're all great. Lasso especially. I also watch From on MGM+ and it's interesting but it's HIGHLY derivative of LOST. (Makes sense since one of the creators was also involved in LOST).

It's a weird series for sure. I almost quit reading during Shift. Donald has to be one of the most simultaneously sympathetic but irritating characters I've ever read (and that counts Solo, lol). If you think it's weird now, the three short stories at the end of Dust go in a really unexpected (and mostly negative IMO) direction.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

We've binged both seasons of "The Diplomat" on Netflix.  It's a great series full of twists and turns.  It starts with a veteran, accomplished diplomat (Keri Russell) who is appointed Ambassador to Great Britain in the wake of an attack on a British warship that killed 41 sailors.  They appoint her because she is a well-known serious diplomat and appointing her shows the Brits that the US is serious about the incident.  The initial thought is that it was Iran who did it, but as the evidence is gathered and the investigation goes on, things change.  The series takes off at a gallop and never slows down.  It's really well-done.

We also binged the so-far only season of "Man on the Inside" on Netflix starring Ted Danson.  A theft takes place in an upscale retirement home, a private eye puts out an ad for an old person to do private eye work, but what she really wants is someone to pose as a resident and help the investigation.  It's a no-stress, light-hearted and funny series.  I liked it a lot.

Last night the wife and I watched the first episode of "Peaky Blinders."  The wife initially said she wouldn't watch it if it was violent, but after one episode, she's hooked.  That's our next series.

Peaky Blinders is great! It’s a spiritual twin in some ways to Boardwalk Empire. Both shows are among my favorites and both are loosely based on historical fact.

I just finished watching Landman on Prime. Billy Bob Thornton is truly a phenomenal actor. That's all I have to say about it.

On a different note, I saw the new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again for Disney (puke) and I'm actually impressed. They're actually continuing the storyline left hanging when DD was taken from Netflix. All of the same actors are reprising their roles. Evidently the original writers tried to 'Disney' the series and do a sift reboot and after the first few episodes were seen by show runners the writers were fired and everything had to be redone. They wanted the same vibe the series had when on Netflix. Thank goodness! So if you liked the series check out the trailer.
